I've had success connecting other polycom devices to my CUCM. However this is the first Trio. The connection guide for the Trio to CUCM found here: http://support.polycom.com/content/dam/polycom-support/products/Voice/realpresence_trio/setup-mainte... doesn't match what I actually see.
I've upgraded and downgraded from the oldest to the newest firmware with no difference in results. When I go into the web interface of the Trio I do not see the option under line to put the username and password/digest. The only place I see the option is under the quick setup.
Also, there are a ton of fields that looks specific to different kinds of systems such as Lync, etc. I'm making an assumption that should be set to generic, but that is just that, an assumption.
Any chance that we can get some documentation to connect this to CUCM where the documentation matches the screens?

I've determined a few things in regards to the Trio on a CUCM system.
First: it works. The documentation doesn't sync with the actual phone experience, so I will try to pass the process along to make it work:
First. CUCM:
- Build Phone Security Profile – default port is 5060. Don’t change this unless you know what you are doing:
- Build user on CUCM: NOTE: Cisco recommends using numbers for the User ID and the digest password for 3rd party SIP devices, so that is what I’ve done.
- Build phone as per the documentation:
That is all for CUCM:
Now for the Trio - if you have messed with it, reset to factory default then turn on web programming
I will click Simple Setup:
The info that I filled in are:
- System Name: I used the extension number
- Set the time sync server and time zone:
- SIP server: Set as the IP of the SUB (or PUB if that is your preference)
- port: 5060 (must match what you have on the security profile)
- SIP Line Identification: Display name - I used the extension of the phone - unsure if what is here really matters
Address: must be the extension of the phone - Authentication User ID - is the user id from CUCM (should be numbers per Cisco)
- Authentication Password - is the digest password from CUCM (again per Cisco this is recommended to be numbers)
- Label - I used the extension of the phone - unsure if what is here really matters
- Base Profile - Generic
Press Save
Phone reboots
Then it works….

Hello David,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
You may have purchased the Microsoft
Simply following these steps => here <= should enable you to set this to OpenSIP instead of LYNC.

Thank you. It was already set to generic.
I've gotten several outside SIP devices working on CUCM in the past including a polycom 7000 in the last month or so. Followed the directions, however the Polycom document simply doesn't fit the Trio phone.
Is there a document available that shows how to connect a Trio to CUCM? No matter what I try, I get a rejected message. I've completely scrapped the whole thing and rebuilt everything step by step, but when it comes to the trio, I'm simply guessing as it doesn't match the documentation.

Hello David,
The FAQ post above should provide you with a configuration example which should allow you to create a config, store it locally and simply import it via the Web Interface.
Troubleshooting is shown here:
Jan 19, 2012 Question: How to troubleshoot Polycom VoIP related Issues?
Resolution: Please check => here <=
I am currently away so I cannot verify if there is a difference in the web interface in regards of the Trio.
The next step would be to open a support ticket.
In order to raise a support ticket you need to work with your Polycom reseller as they need to do this for you. End Customers are usually unable to open a ticket directly with Polycom support.
If this is some sort of an Internet discounter please post either your phone's MAC address or your Polycom devices serial so I can look up who would be able to support you. This may not be who you purchased the Polycom device from.
I will check this on my return in a couple of weeks.
Alternatively you can try and open a Web Ticket as explained in my Signature.
Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

I know this is a little late, but since the device is still a current device in use, and I struggled to find any solid resources for this, I've written up a guide on my blog that is a very straight forward guide for connecting the trio 8800 with visual+ to CUCM. This has been fully tested multiple times and works perfectly.
