Hi community
I want to configure the Polycom UCS phone provisioning to be able to mass deploy VVX phones. I want to set the DHCP option 160 with the webserver URL. The problem is: I cant enable this DHCP option for all our devices/clients. I must have a way to give this option only, if a polycom VVX device is the DHCP requestor. How can I do this?
thx and regards

Hi Steffen
Thank you for your answer. I tried the it with vendor specific options for the DHCP, but the problem isn't solved at the moment.I have the following two scenarios:
1. Fill in option 66 with the Provisioning Server Name
2. Apply the vendor specific rules for DHCP and configure the Provisiong Server Name as a DHCP suboption for this vendor specific class
I tried scenario 1 just for a test subnet in our infra. It worked as I expected. The problem is, I can't enable this option for all our subnets, because the option is used otherwise. The only way is the second scenario.
I modifed the DHCP settings to allow the vendor specific rules on our microsoft DHCP servers. I traced the traffic with wireshark and saw the following:
-----------------------------------
DHCP discover:
.....
Option: (53) DHCP Message Type
Length: 1
DHCP: Discover (1)
Option: (12) Host Name
Length: 20
Host Name: Polycom_0004f2802ad5
Option: (55) Parameter Request List
Length: 11
Parameter Request List Item: (66) TFTP Server Name
Parameter Request List Item: (43) Vendor-Specific Information
Parameter Request List Item: (7) Log Server
Parameter Request List Item: (54) DHCP Server Identifier
Parameter Request List Item: (42) Network Time Protocol Servers
Parameter Request List Item: (15) Domain Name
Parameter Request List Item: (6) Domain Name Server
Parameter Request List Item: (4) Time Server
Parameter Request List Item: (3) Router
Parameter Request List Item: (2) Time Offset
Parameter Request List Item: (1) Subnet Mask
Option: (60) Vendor class identifier
Length: 14
Vendor class identifier: Polycom-VVX500
Option: (125) V-I Vendor-specific Information
Length: 122
Enterprise: Polycom, Inc. (13885)
Option: (255) End
Option End: 255
DHCP Offer:
....
Option: (3) Router
Length: 4
Router: ....
Option: (43) Vendor-Specific Information
Length: 59
Option: (255) End
Option End: 255
(wireshark shows the URL of my provisioning server in the ASCII code, in the other window I just see Option 43 Vendor-Specific Information and the Lenght.)
-----------------------------------
In scenario 2, I can't see a connection from my polycom VVX-500 to the provisioning server. That means for me, something with the DHCP Vendor specific options does not work as it should....
On the Polycom device I configured for the Provisioning Server/DHCP Settings the following:
Boot Server: Option66
Boot Server Option: <blank>
Boot Server Type: String
Option 60 Format: ASCII String
Is there someting else I have to configure, to be able to give the Polycom device the Provisioning Server with DHCP vendor specific options?
thx and regards
