What’s new in PVOS 8.2.1
This release of PVOS includes new features, feature enhancements, and important field fixes.
- USB ports on the phone and EM shut down in overcurrent situations
If a USB peripheral requests more power than the USB port on the phone or Expansion Module (EM) can allocate, the port shuts down until you remove the peripheral. This overcurrent check now blocks USB peripherals that could previously connect but exceeded the USB port current draw limits.
- New Call-ID in the REGISTER transaction that initiates a failover
This release adds an optional behavior to enhance current redundancy features. This new behavior causes the REGISTER transaction to alternate routes to be initiated with a new Call-ID on failover .
- New speed dial icon style
This release release provides a new icon style for speed dial entries.
- Enhancements to the surround lighting bar for DND
To enable the surround lighting bar when, you set your phone to DND (Do Not Disturb) set the following parameter ind.pattern.haloDND.step.1.state="1".
- LDAP reverse name lookup using a wildcard
You can configure the phone to append a wildcard character at the end of the LDAP query string when performing a reverse name lookup if the LDAP server doesn’t accept exact match queries by using up.rnl.ldap.addStar="1"
- Enhancements to caller ID display from EFK-initiated outgoing calls
When an enhanced feature key (EFK) is used to place a call from its associated line key, the caller ID for the resulting call displays the value assigned to the efk.efklist.x.linelabel configuration parameter.
- Phone no longer restarts when updating certain call configuration parameters
This release enhances the software so that changes to certain call configuration parameters are now applied without causing the phone to restart.
- TCP keepalive and SIP server recovery configuration parameter enhancements
This release provides enhancements to TCP keepalive and SIP registration timeout configuration parameters.
- Updated default cipher list for TLS
This release provides updated default TLS cipher list values.
USB ports on the phone and EM shut down in overcurrent situations
If a USB peripheral requests more power than the USB port on the phone or Expansion Module (EM) can allocate, the port shuts down until you remove the peripheral. This overcurrent check now blocks USB peripherals that could previously connect but exceeded the USB port current draw limits.
New Call-ID in the REGISTER transaction that initiates a failover
This release adds an optional behavior to enhance current redundancy features. This new behavior causes the REGISTER transaction to alternate routes to be initiated with a new Call-ID on failover .
Select and enable the appropriate new parameter to add to your existing confirguration. The new parametrs are:
voIpProt.SIP.outboundProxy.failOver.reRegistrationOn.withNewCallID="1"
reg.x.outboundProxy.failOver.reRegistrationOn.withNewCallID="1"
voIpProt.server.y.failOver.reRegistrationOn.withNewCallID="1"
reg.x.server.y.failOver.reRegistrationOn.withNewCallID="1"
New speed dial icon style
This release release provides a new icon style for speed dial entries.
The new speed dial icon inverts the color palette of the regular speed dial icon: Poly Edge E phone homescreen showing regular and dynamic speed dial entries.
Add the following under <item> in the <mac>-directory.xml or 000000000000-directory.xml file for a speed dial to display the new icon
<directory>
<item_list>
<item>
<ln>last name</ln>
<fn>first name</fn>
<ct>contact entry #</ct>
<rt>ringtone</rt>
<sd>speed dial #</sd>
<it>dynamic</it>
</item>
</item_list>
</directory>
Enhancements to the surround lighting bar for DND
To enable the surround lighting bar when, you set your phone to DND (Do Not Disturb) set the following parameter ind.pattern.haloDND.step.1.state="1".
You can now customize the lighting bar pattern state, effect, color, and duration of the LED indicator when you set your phone to DND.
For information on how to customize your lighting bar, refer to the Customizing LED Indicators on Poly Edge E Series Phones feature profile.
LDAP reverse name lookup using a wildcard
You can configure the phone to append a wildcard character at the end of the LDAP query string when performing a reverse name lookup if the LDAP server doesn’t accept exact match queries by using up.rnl.ldap.addStar="1"
Enhancements to caller ID display from EFK-initiated outgoing calls
When an enhanced feature key (EFK) is used to place a call from its associated line key, the caller ID for the resulting call displays the value assigned to the efk.efklist.x.linelabel configuration parameter.
The phone may overwrite this initial EFK-derived display name as the call progresses. For example, the phone may apply reverse name lookup sources (local contact directory, SIP, or LDAP) or remote caller ID received via SIP.
Phone no longer restarts when updating certain call configuration parameters
This release enhances the software so that changes to certain call configuration parameters are now applied without causing the phone to restart.
These changes apply to the following parameters:
-
call.directedCallPickupMethod
-
call.parkedCallRetrieveMethod
-
call.lastCallReturnString
-
call.directedCallPickupString
-
call.parkedCallRetrieveString
-
call.parkedCallString
TCP keepalive and SIP server recovery configuration parameter enhancements
This release provides enhancements to TCP keepalive and SIP registration timeout configuration parameters.
To enable faster detection of a breakage of the TCP connection used for SIP signaling TLS sessions:
-
The minimum value allowed for tcpIpApp.keepalive.tcp.noResponseTransmitInterval parameter is reduced from 5 seconds to 1 second.
-
The tcpIpApp.keepalive.tcp.noResponseTrasmit.retries parameter is added to configure the number of no response retries:
-
Minimum: 1
-
Default: 3
-
Maximum: 5
Previous versions of the software always transmitted 3 no response retries.
-
To enable faster restoration of SIP registration after a failure:
-
The minimum value allowed for the reg.x.server.y.registerRetry.baseTimeOut parameter is reduced from 10 seconds to 4 seconds.
Updated default cipher list for TLS
This release provides updated default TLS cipher list values.
The sec.TLS.webServer.cipherList and sec.TLS.cipherList parameters now use the following updated default cipher list values:
-
TLS_AES_128_GCM_SHA256
-
TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384
-
TLS_CHACHA20_POLY1305_SHA256
-
ECDHE-ECDSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256
-
ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256
-
ECDHE-ECDSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384
-
ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384
-
ECDHE-ECDSA-CHACHA20-POLY1305
-
ECDHE-RSA-CHACHA20-POLY1305
-
DHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256
