So we have one of these, and we don't know what the admin password is.
It doesn't seem to be 456
REMOVED BY MOD ! This method is not publicly discussed in the Polycom Community !
Similar story when it finally boots (after timing out trying to get to whatever nonexistent server the config is currently set to).
Is there some deeply hidden reset button accessible via the traditional bent paperclip?

Hello magnayn,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
I have removed Part of your Post as Polycom does not publicly discuss this method in order to protect our Customers investment.
- Reboot the Phone
- Press 6,8 and * when the countdown appears
- The Phone will prompt you for a Password
- Use the method I have removed and ensure you add all the characters correctly
There is no other method and the phone would have to be returned as an chargeable RMA

I can ajust the IP settings in that screen, and point to the correct network settings;
However once it has booted the application, it doesn't seem to have reset the admin password, so I still can't set any of the SIP parameters in the Advanced screen. It also didn't seem to touch the configured HTTP server.
It's reporting a version of 2.1.0.2708 -- was there a different default password other than 456 then ?

Hello magnyan,
I am not sure if I can follow you.
You claim you cannot reset the password but you can access the Network Settings in the Boot Up Stage.
Can you access => Menu => Settings => Advanced using the 456 Password ?
If yes, then the Password has been reset using the non public procedure.
The SSIP4000 latest Software is SIP 3.1.7 so if you can access the Network Settings do the following after you have followed this guide => here <= that explains how to setup a local provisioning Server:
- • Scroll down to DHCP menu and press select/enter
- • Change the Boot Server to static via the Edit Button
- • Press Back
- • Scroll down to Server Menu and press select/enter and change to the following values
Server Type: FTP or HTTP or TFTP (depending what server you have setup)
Server Address: Your Local IP Address or Hostname of your server (depending what server you have setup)
Server User: depends on your Provisioning method
Server Password: depends on your Provisioning method
If you are unable to follow above you should work with your local Polycom Reseller and / or Polycom via PPI (pay per Incident)

Just a follow up,
if the Phone DHCP Settings provision the Phone with a Provisioning Server via the Option 66 and or Custom Option (unsure if that already exists in SIP 2.x.x) then the Phone will always load its configuration from that Server and overwrite the changes you have just made.

I too have an IP4000 where someone in my team has changed the admin password from the default of 456, so the phone is practically out of use.
Could someone please send me the unlock method,
Many thanks

I have input 6,8 and * when the countdown appears
The phone declared it was updating the configuration, then gave a failure to update xxxxxxxxxxxxx.cfg
Is there a way for me to set it to a factory default ?
Thanks D

Hello nickyford,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
The Polycom standard password is 456 as already mentioned in the beginning of this post.
We do not disclose within this official Polycom community how to reset the Phones if the Admin Password is lost.
Many of our partners utilize these phones and offer services so we cannot publicly disclose the procedure to do so.
If your phone is still able to connect to the Provisioning server please reset the password via the Device Parameters documented in the Admin Guide or here
If this is not possible please contact your Polycom reseller or the person you purchased the phone from.
We will remove any post replying to this that will publicly explain how to remove the password.
Best Regards
