Hello,
I have tried this with 2 Polycom VVX 601 phones. I connect the phone to the network, get the ip address from the phone's touch display. Enter the ip address into my web browser and I only see a website from my web host like I typed in a bad domain name. Also, when I do a traceroute from the VVX 601 to google.com, it works fine.
If I plug a Cisco 303 into the same exact ethernet port, then type the Cisco ip address into a web browser, it works fine. Aka, I see a login page for the Cisco phone.
What am I missing when trying to setup this VVX 601?

Thanks, that helped. The condensed solution for anyone finding this in the future is to use:
https:// and then the ip address from the phone.
So it might look like https://192.169.0.100
