Hello,

We currently have Poly VVX 301 desk phones deployed within our internal network environment. When attempting to access the phone’s web configuration interface, the system prompts for an administrator password that was originally set by our service provider.

We would like to understand what options are available to regain administrative access to the device. Specifically:

  • Is there a supported method to reset the administrator password locally?

  • We performed a factory reset, but was unable to get into the GUI website.

  • Are there any provisioning restrictions that would prevent us from managing the device directly after a reset?

The phones are physically in our possession and connected to our internal network. We are simply looking to manage them with a new provider.

Thanks,

Hello @dennisgh11 ,

Welcome to the HP Poly community.

From our VoIP FAQ:

Oct 7, 2011 Question: What is the default standard Username and Password for a Poly Phone?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Sep 19, 2022 Question: Why does a Phone return/revert to a previous unknown password even after a factory reset?

Resolution: If a phone is provisioned either by a local server/ZTP/LENS and/or a DHCP option the phone will simply load the old configuration.

On phones with access to the low-level GUI (option 4 >here<) once the password is reset either ZTP can be disabled or the Boot Server can be set to static. For phones that do not have such an option (CCX, Trio, D230, Rove or Edge E) please check with your IT team or whoever set up the phone.

Best Regards

Steffen Baier
