Does ZRC 5.14.0, which all our Trio 8800's are running, still expire 2/24?

Since ZRC 5.14.0 is embedded in the Trio 8800's firmware, is there a firmware update from HP that includes 5.14.5?

Thanks Steffen Baier for the link to >this< that was posted on 09-01-2023 12:03 AM.  On 2023-12-18 23:11:14 Zoom posted https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0058181#h_01GQK1KCGR8EGZHK5JAM65VD... on 12/18/23 and says that 5.14.5 will work until 2/2025.  Hince the question " What about ZRC 5.14.5 for Trio 8800?"

Hello @Joda_RTS

our Firmware includes a certain version of the Zoom app that was shared when we released the firmware. Zoom can push new firmware via the Android APK process.

HP Poly will not deliver a later firmware for the Trio with ZRC 5.14.5

Best regards

Hi @SteffenBaierUK

So come May 4 then our Poly Trio 8800 will no longer be able to use Zoom?

Zoom Room Controller minimum version 5.14.5 on May 4 -> https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0061130

Current latest Poly UC software 7.2.7 -> https://docs.poly.com/bundle/ucs-rn-7-top/page/uc-software-7-rn.html has only ZRC 5.14.0

Your statement "HP Poly will not deliver a later firmware for the Trio with ZRC 5.14.5" indicates to me that any future update to Poly UC software will not have ZRC 5.14.5 in it, correct?

Any update for ZRC will have to be performed by Zoom pushing it out?

Damien

Hello @DamienGM ,

welcome to the HP Poly community.

First of all, I am a volunteer and not a spokesperson for HP Poly so anything I write is my own opinion and based on my personal information. as stated in my signature.

Zoom is making this the requirement so I can only suggest you work with our Partner Zoom on their requirement. Before their deadline, you can simply ensure all Triio 8800 or 8500 have the required updates installed.

After their deadline for new (pretty sure 8800 & 8500 are end of sale) or after a factory restore you would need to work with Zoom so they can configure the device to download the required APK.

As stated to the original poster check and work with the HP Poly Sales Team to get a future-proof hardware

Best Regards

Hello @DamienGM

in our weekly call, I discussed this with Zoom today and we discussed the different announcements regarding the retirement.

I replied to the original poster >here< were I had shared an FAQ post. This is pretty clear:

@SteffenBaierUK wrote:

Can I continue to use the Zoom Rooms Android Controller on my devices?

The Affected Legacy Hardware may continue to use Zoom Rooms Android Controller version 5.14.5 until it reaches end-of-life. In accordance with the Zoom Software Quarterly Lifecycle Policy, this version (5.14.5) is expected to reach end-of-life on February 3rd, 2024. After this date, Zoom Rooms Android Controller version 5.14.5 will stop operating, and Affected Legacy Hardware will show a notification message instructing the administrator to transition to an alternative hardware supported by the Zoom Rooms Controller app as soon as possible.
...

There is also >this< "Advance notice of end of support for Zoom Rooms Android Controller on legacy hardware devices" by Zoom.

HP Poly also has [Zoom] End of Support for Zoom Rooms Controller (ZRC) post. I hope this clarifies any follow up questions.

Best Regards

It is now 5 days after February 3rd, 2024 and my Trio 8800s running 15.4.0 have not expired and continue to control Zoom Rooms.  I think this is because Zoom appears to not be the best company at managing communication consistency.   This KB from Zoom feels the most up to date as it reflects my current Trio 8800 reality: which is that 15.4.0 will indeed expire on 5/4/24 and that 15.4.0 is the last and only, ever, for a Trio 8800s
