Good afternoon we are looking for help to see if we can assist a customer reuse their polycom equipment as they move to a new voip provider. The customers phones are certified as self-signed. We have the Mac addresses for each of the phones but are unsure how to check if the license has expired. It is our understanding that the device certification must be changed but the first step is to confirm that the license is still valid. appreciate any insight. thank you

Hello Elmo,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
It is always useful to include the currently used SIP or UC Software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.
This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.
The above is also stated in the "Read First: Welcome to the Polycom VoIP Forum"
Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:
Question: How can I find out my SIP UC Software Version or the BootROM Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here
In addition there is no license required to use the phone, the certificate is simply to use with HTTPS or TLS so please provide more details what issues you encounter.
Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.
Best Regards

Hello,
I have purchased 12 used Polycom 550 phones and 8 of them have Self-Signed Device Certificates. The 8 with Self-Signed certificates are not accepted by my VOIP provider at registration. Is there anything that may be done to fix this through a bootrom upgrade or any other means?
Model: SoundPoint IP 550
Assembly: 2345-12500-001 Rev:M
S/N 0004f2245956
BootBlock: 3.0.2.0024(12500-001)
Updater: 5.0.2.12692
Device Certificate: Self-Signed
Thanks!

Hello KrisWaterloo,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
The following document => here <= explains on page 3 why there is a self signed certificate since UC Software 4.0.0 or later on the phone.
We only started manufacturing phones with a Device Certificate Implementation Date in 2009 and based on your Serial Number the SPIP550 only added this back in December 2009 and your phone was sold in 21/07/2009.
Please work with your VoIP Provider on this or purchase new phones as this specific phone must have been purchased as a used phone and is nearly 7 years old.
Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.
Best Regards
