> no boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed
1. Check that the "data" and "power" cables are securely-connected to the disk-drive, and that the other end of the "data" cable is connected to a SATA port on the motherboard. If you have an "empty" SATA port on the motherboard, move the "data" cable to that port.
2. the disk-drive could have "failed". If it has, you'll need to replace the disk-drive, and re-install Windows. Contact HP Support, to see if they can sell you a copy of the HP-modified Windows 10 "Installation Media".
3. Take the computer to a local owner/operator computer store, and pay them to do the above work.

Hello
the hard drive is defective
It can continue to operate for a certain time, but it can definitively break down, if it is not already the case!
If possible, save personal data
Try a full reinstall
Be careful even if it works, it may permanently break down, save the data regularly.
This may allow you to use the computer while you find a hard drive!
Your computer should be this

You can try to help yourself with this tutorial (sorry not fully translated)

Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 10, 7)
You can try several things in order to try to recover your data,
You can try a bootable cd / dvd type live cd (linux)
https://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/how-to-retrieve-windows-files-using-a-linux-live-cd/
you can try removing the hard drive, in order to connect it to another computer internally, or with a usb adapter!

If your disk is not completely out of order, this gives you a small chance

hp may not provide a recovery kit if the computer is old
reread my recommendations I indicate practically all the possibilities
you can try this if windows 10 installed

Sata cable and hard drive was bad. Had it confirmed with computer repairman. The boot order did not show hard drive.
Replaced data 3 cable and hard drive. The new hard drive appears in the boot order. Able to do short and long hard drive diagnostic test.
Unable to contact HP support to see if I can buy a copy of the HP-modified Wibdows 10 installation media.
Installation is holding me back
Thank you for your recommendation
