Hi,
The MS updates did not cause any of the issues mentioned in this thread on my PC. :smileyhappy:The underlying issue appears to be influenced by a specific Windows problem in which for some can be circumvented.
HP Envy 17", i7-8550u,16GB, 512GB NVMe, 4K screen, Windows 11 x64
Custom PC - Z690, i9-12900K, 32GB DDR5 5600, dual 512 GB NVMe, gen4 2 TB m.2 SSD, 4K screen, OC'd to 5 Ghz, NVIDIA 3080 10GB

Just wanted to add my name to list of laptops with the same problem. The solution presented as stated by many to disable the app readiness, which actually is needed as part of the Windows update process, is just a temporary workaround solution. Many of you have said this, but I wanted to reaffirm this statement.
HP Support on Twitter also told me this as well and that they are working with Windows for patch "soon", but of course did not say when it would be released. At least someone from HP is admitting there is a problem.
Which brings me to my point that it's unclear when or if there will be 100 percent for certain a patch from whomever. At this point, I don't care who is responsible or if the patch comes from HP or Windows.
My 15-inch HP Envy is barely three months old from Costco. Spoke with the concierge service provided for computer/laptop problems from Costco, and they said this should not be happening to a brand new laptop. They even suggested returning it soon b/c my 90-day warranty is almost up and it's uncertain if and when a patch would be available.

Why are you unclear?
It would be a "public relations disaster" for HP and/or Microsoft to leave the problem unfixed.

No argument there.

What will you do if it is revealed that the problem occurs on non-HP computers? Boycott all of them?

"Uncertain If" ??? Google "FUD".
I would assume that an update will be available on Tuesday October 10, because that is the next "2nd Tuesday" date on which Microsoft releases updates, and it gives over 3 weeks for a "fix" to be developed.
Note that Microsoft does release "out-of-band" updates, namely as soon as an update is ready (supporting documents created in many languages, plus seal-of-approval from their Quality Assurance team). So, it could be "sooner".

"It would be a "public relations disaster" for HP and/or Microsoft to leave the problem unfixed."
Yeah so? Companies run the way want to run. Many major companies have had public relations disasters and let things get worse. As I said, it's still not clear when a patch will come out unless I hear it from the horse's mouth.
"What will you do if it is revealed that the problem occurs on non-HP computers? Boycott all of them?"
I agree. And this is what I told my mom because this her BRAND new laptop that the next Windows update my affect a different brand or specific computer model. Luckily for her, it sounds like a lot of HP laptops are having this problem so it appears like it's getting more attention now.

Not trying to put fear in anyone. You said it yourself, you ASSUME a patch is coming out next month. Really next month? I''m looking for certaininty and not unknowns.
As you ended, hopefully "sooner" than later.

I would say "Yes", but have not tested it on any HP computer.
This package provides an update to HP image prevents/fix long system logon process.
The file was created yesterday, and it replaces one file in the 'C:\Windows' folder, and checks/deletes some Windows Registry entries that are specific to "App Readiness".
