Hi there @John169,

Welcome back to the HP Support Forums!  I understand that your computer is not powering on consistently.  I am happy to assist you with this.

Please post the full product number for your computer. See the following, if you need help with that information.  HP Desktop PCs - How Do I Find My Model Number, Serial Number or Product Number?

As your system is running Windows 10, it may be related to Fast Startup being enabled.

The Pros and Cons of Windows 10’s “Fast Startup” Mode  - howtogeek.com  Using that document you can try disabling Fast Startup and see if that helps.

Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

Thanks Malygris1 - you have solved my problem

I have tried ticking the box to say the problem is solved but I could not see any confirmation that it worked - hence this message.

Mamy thanks for your help

Back again with the same problem., which I thought Malygris 1 had resolved............

I am once again having to start up sometimes 5 or 6 times before the computer starts.  I have tried disconnecting all items and then re starting but this does not work.

On occasions I get the message...Prepringautomatic repair, followed by Diagnosing your computer - it then eentually restarts but takes an age.

What on earth has gone wrong with my HP computer

If that is a different message from what you were seeing before let me know.

Also this time try following: HP Desktop PCs - Computer Does Not Start (Windows 10,8), and try the hardware diagnostics.

Thanks for your help Malygris1

These are new messages - I had no messages the first time.

I shall now have a look at the site you have suggested and will let you know what transpires

Thanks again

I have tried all suggested options but still have the same problems at start up - takes 6 or 7 times to get going and then eventually the message comes up   "preparing auto repair"  followed by "diagnosing your computer"  followed by instructions to restart - which then works.  All very time consuming, and very frustrating to say the least

Please advise what next.

I have also been told on the HP website that my warranty has expired when it has not.

This also adds to my frustration with HP
