This error appears to have happened because BitLocker turned itself on encrypting my hard drive. Even though I turned BitLocker off, it still is preventing this update.

I entered the BIOS setup by pressing F10 continuously.

I chose to update BIOS via HP website.

It suspended BitLocker (which has never actually been turned on by me) and did not ask for a password.

It updated BIOS to version 2.16.

Computer now boots normally. I suspect it will happen again during an update.

I was not able to update BIOS using HPBIOSUPDREC utility, or install SoftPac  Download Manager.

Hi,

Why did you do that ???

Can you boot your computer ?

If yes, does the USB-C port(s) still work properly ?

Try reupdating the previous frimware.
