Bought a new PC, I did a BIOS update (when i looked online for updates drivers etc. HP adviced it), but now my computer does not startup to Windows, the screen stays black. Did the virtual assistant tips, but no solution. Anybody an idea?

Hi @DMR14
@Prométhée, FYI.
Can only guess when diagnosing your problem, PCs are complex beasts!
There has been a wave of various HP PCs receiving a faulty BIOS update from HPSA or optional HP Firmware updates pushed to users by Windows Update. Product lines in this class are : 690 series PCs, some All-in-One PCs, 25L PCs, and Business Workstations.
Some affected PCs can run Windows but are unstable while other PCs lack video and USB I/O. This latter class of PCs are bricked. I suspect your PC falls into the "bricked" category.
Check this Link and additional embedded links for possible solutions. Also see Business Workstation BIOS update issues Here.
You will have to contact HP for factory service (reprogram the BIOS chip or replace the MB) or find a local PC Tech who can attempt flashing the BIOS (prior version) using a Serial ISP programmer if this chip is soldered to the MB.

hi

It's not just a wave, @Bill_To this problem has existed for a long time, I already encountered this type of problem in the French community in 2009!
that' s why I try to dissuade the user when one makes a request for update of the bios, without valid reason
That said new computer, you can actually try a bios recovery @DMR14 , but as you must be under warranty, try to use it, contact Hp!

Thanks to All! Contacted HP Support, they Will come to solve the problem on site, flash the bios or replace the motherboard, or, worst case, take the computer and send a new one . Good service, but they shouldn’t offer the update in the first place…
