if crucial tells you it's possible, usually it will work
But it's not 100% reliable either.
the advantage, if it does not work, no problem, to return the product, they are normally very serious!

Just bought a crucial 32 gb RAM, installed into my desktop on erica6 motherboard and it is working OK
so it seems that Motherboard's description is incorrect when telling that only 32 gb is maximum for this Motherboard.

yes as I said, it is not necessarily an error, but just the maximum, that hp will have tested, sometimes!
