Bad Bios Update Causes Machine to Freeze intermittently

Is anyone else having an intermittent freezing issue with your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0034 since installing the December 2022 Bios Update? Have you found a way to fix it?

Since your desktop has a UEFI BIOS, why not enter the BIOS and see if you can roll it back to the previous version?

Another option would be to reset the embedded controller.  See the document below.

I see that you are facing freezing issue with your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0034.

Please run the updates from HP Support Assistant by following the steps listed below:
1. Download the current version from this Weblink
2. Click on Updates and Messages to scan for new updates.
3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
You may also refer to the HP document to download and use HP Support Assistant by visiting this Weblink.

Hello - thank you, but unless you have released a new bios update since Saturday, that solution does not seem to work.  I have found a way to roll back the bios to F.55 and will not update it again until there is an updated bios available that does not cause the same issue as F.57, which did not work.

YES!!!  Four days ago I updated My Firmware, Ever since my Wired Mouse and My Wireless Keyboard keep FREEZING after 5 minutes of No Use. I am then Forced to do a Hard Shutdown and Restart Computer.

I have tried Many things to No Avail..

Uninstall, Reinstall Mouse and Keyboard Drivers, I have checked every Driver in the Frigging Computer.

I have checked All BIOS Settings. My ears are open as in My Mind, Feel Free to Suggest ideas...

My Wired Mouse is Linked Under "HID Compliant Mouse"  in Device Manager. Driver is "input.inf"  Location  "USB Input Device" I believe the USB Input Device is the Problem. I have read that for both the Keyboard and My Mouse to TURN OFF

both Options in Device Manager, 1. Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. 2. Allow this Device to wake the Computer. The USB Input Device in My Mouse Device keeps changing My Setting and Enabling "Allow the Computer to turn off this Device to save Power. However it does Not change My Settings in Keyboard. I have also applied the Settings to all USB Devices...

One More Item!!!  Almost Forgot, I have figured out a way to Outsmart the little **bleep** inside my Computer that keeps Freezing  My Keyboard and Mouse. If I am going to step away from My Computer for more than a few minutes, I disconnect My Mouse First, When I come back 10, 20, 30 an hour or two later My Keyboard is NOT FROZEN and... My Mouse works fine once I plug er back in.

My Wireless Keyboard is Linked under "HID Keyboard Device" Driver is "Keyboard INF"  Location "USB Input Device"

At this Point I DO NOT believe the Keyboard is the Problem, I believe it is the "USB Input Device" as it constantly changes My Power Setting for My Mouse in Device Manager. There have been No Changes to My Settings in Keyboard.

I have also Changed Power Plan, Turned OFF  and/or Disabled 2 settings, in Power Plan. 1. USB Selective Suspend Setting and have Turned Off "Link State Power Management."

Yes I have tried, Sfc /scannow and the 3 DISM Commands, there are NO Issues with My Computer other than  My Mouse and Keyboard Freezing ever since Firmware Update.

Not sure what to try Next, I am trying to find Parameter Settings for USB Input Device in Registry. I do believe the problem will be found in the Registry.

Now I am heading into My Registry, Wish me Luck... My System is HP Desktop, Win 10 x 64 21h2 Home...

A faulty BIOS update for an entire series of HP PCs having specific MBs did cause the problem.

This lengthy thread https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Workstations-and-Point-of-Sale-Systems/Firmware-Rollback-... revealed it was a BIOS update offered by Windows Update and offered by HP that started the problem.
