I'm looking to upgrade the CPU for my HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0024.  What is a Windows 11 Compatible CPU/Processor I should look into purchasing?

Hi:

Below is the link to the product specs for your PC.

HP Pavilion 690-0024 Gaming Desktop PC Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

The processor info can be found on the above link.

The only AMD processor on the list that meets the W11 hardware requirements is this one:

AMD Ryzen7-2700 (Pinnacle Ridge)

Before investing any money into a new/used processor, make sure that your PC has a TPM 2.0 security device present and enabled in the device manager.

If your PC has a TPM 2.0 security device present and enabled, it will be listed under a Security Devices category along with an AMD PSP device.

If your PC does not have a TPM 2.0 security device, do not waste your money on upgrading the processor, as the PC will never meet the W11 hardware requirements.

If it does not have a TPM 2.0 security device, and if you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2.

You have to use the version of the Rufus utility that I zipped up and attached in the discussion (v3.18).

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.
