hello
Today my computer blacked out 2 serprate times and I got error message each time Dispaly Driver is not responding. Several years ago my computer blacked out and stopped runing. Leading me to reset the graphics card and it worked again. I am questioning if the error message Dispaly Driver is not responding and the part of my computer blacking out and working again has anything to do with each other. I am not up on computers all that much but would also like to add if this a graphic card issue. Where in or in my computer being inside the case or else where can I find the particular type graphic card for this system. Thank you.

If you try a different video card you need to be sure that the system requirements of the video card are exceeded by the what your system has, or you will have problems. The main culprit is normally the capacity of the power supply. The standard power supply in your system 460 W, and your motherboard has 1 PCI Express x16 (Gen 2.0) slot.
Looking at the AMD Radeon™ HD 6450 Graphics specifications, on the support tab it shows, "400 Watt or greater power supply recommended (500 Watt for AMD CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)" , PCI Express 2.1 x16,
Comparing the two you would want to have a power supply with a greater capacity, if the "AMD CrossFireX" applies to your card, and card is is Gen 2.1, so it could lose some functionality or performance.
The main thing is to compare what your current hardware is capable of, and if necessary you would need to do more upgrades to support newer or more powerful hardware.
The only other thing is that there is never any guarantee that a device will work with another device, even if on paper they would seem to be compatible. Once a system leaves the factory, a user could have installed other hardware or devices or software that may not play well with something else.
A little loose analogy, when they leave the factory, every computer is like a clone, but once in the hands of a user, they become individuals.

Hi there @JrJerry,
Welcome back to the HP Support Forums! I understand that you are getting an issue with the display driver not responding and then resetting itself. I am happy to give you a hand with this.
I found the following from the AMD support forums that may help with what you are seeing: Graphics driver stopped responding and has recovered....TDR fix. The suggested fix by kingfish in that thread is to adjust the TDRdelay in the system registry. Give it a try if you are comfortable with registry editing. For your own protection make a backup of your registry first. You can find instructions on how to do that in this document: How to back up and restore the registry in Windows - support.microsoft.com
Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

It is an Asus ATI Radeon HD 6450 Silent 1 GB DRR3 VGA / DVI / HDMI Low Profile PCI Express Dideo Card EAH6450. I am asking if a new video card will work and how can I install drivers for this or any video card. Thank you.
