Looking to upgrade this computer for gaming without having to build an entire new desktop so hopefully somebody can help me out. Ill post all my specs down below because I'm not sure what's compatible when it comes to upgrading so I don't really know what to upgrade to.
Current build
- Ryzen 7 1700 (8 Core processor)
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
- Motherboard Sunflower HP 8433
- RAM DDR4 16GB ( 2 x 8GB sticks )
- Storage 1TB SSD
- Power Supply maybe 450W ? Definitely an HP power supply, if you really need to know the wattage let me know and I'll open my case and take a look.
I don't play too many games but when I do I would like for them to run smoothly on preferably high to ultra settings ( ultra if possible ; high is perfectly fine ). This computer is mainly has simulator games on it, Ill list the games down below if that helps with the upgrade in any way. ( Police Simulator ; Car mechanic simulator ; BeamNG ; CarX Drift ; Forza 5 ; Assesto Corsa ) Basically car games, not too many shooting games unless the next upgrade is strong enough.
Really just looking to upgrade the GPU if only that could be upgraded, not too good when it comes to rebuilding a PC but I could definitely swap out a GPU ; Power Supply ; Ram and storage if needed. Not to comfortable swapping a whole motherboard and not even the CPU unless it's easy enough to.
Any help with an upgrade would be greatly appreciated.

hi
If you want to replace/add a graphics card, there are a few things you need to check
You have to check the manufacturers data, for the chosen model , Dimensions, power requirements, and additional pci connectors required >see @old_geekster 's kb

for the graphics card, I often recommend the Asus site with filter options
just 500w
https://www.asus.com/motherboards-components/graphics-cards/all-series/filter?Spec=683
See if others offer it, price/performance may vary...
If you have the idea to replace more than the graphics card (sometimes no choice, you will have to change the power supply as well) The processor, going from 16 gb of ram to 32 gb for example depending on the age of the computer, this might not be advantageous so rather old, what you change may not be able to be reused, unlike the graphics card..Sometimes, for not that much cost, you could have a much newer, more capable computer.
Internal 310 W PSU
AMD Radeon RX 550
have you already made the change?
