Graphics Card Compatibility with HP Slim Desktop

I am searching for a suitable graphics card to be able to play 4k resolution at 60hz for my HP Slim Desktop - S01-pF1048xt. I am currently looking at the ZOTAC GeForce GT 1030 2GB graphics card. However, I am not sure if my PC is compatible with the ZOTAC GeForce GT 1030 card.

I am rather new to upgrading computers, so any help will be gladly appreciated.

Once you read the article, you will have a better understanding of the process.

The Slim Desktops are not actually meant to be upgraded very much.  The small case can cause an excess of HEAT.  However, with that said, there is a PCI Express x16 slot on the motherboard.  I believe that the ZOTAC GeForce GT 1030 2GB will fit, but there is another consideration, the power supply unit (PSU).  The specifications don't show the wattage of it.  If it is 240W or less, it will not be enough power for the card.  It requires 300W minimum: https://www.newegg.com/zotac-geforce-gt-1030-zt-p10300a-10l/p/N82E16814500424?nm_mc=AFC-RAN-COM&cm_m...

Thank you for emphasizing the power supply specifications of my PC. It appears that my computer power supply is only 180W. So, I will have to either find another graphics card or upgrade my current power supply.  Nevertheless, I’m assuming that finding an adequate power supply for this PC will probably lead to more potential problems in compatibility.

The first thing that you should check is the power connector on the motherboard.  I am not familiar with your motherboard.  It may be HP proprietary and I am not certain that you will find a PSU that will be compatible.

The motherboard is a HP BakerMS. From what I can gleam, the motherboard is probably proprietary. I am assuming that HP does not offer up-gradable PSUs for this motherboard.

I have heard that it may be possible to use an USB to DisplayPort adapter to be able to view 4k at 60hz, but I am not sure if these adapters will work with my USB ports.  I have four SuperSpeed USB Type-A ports on the front of my PC.  However, it appears that most adapters need Type-C.

I may have to accept the current resolution for now. Luckily, there was an update to the Intel Graphics UHD 630 driver. I can now view 4k at 24hz on my monitor at the very least.

You are absolutely correct!  The BakerMS motherboard is HP proprietary.  It has a 4-pin power connector instead of the standard 24-pin ATX power connector.  The problem is there is no information on which HP PSU's are compatible with it.  Here is an excellent Power Supply Cross-Reference Chart made by one of our volunteer Experts: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Knowledge-Base/Power-Supply-Cross-Reference-for-specific-model...

He has done an amazing job, but your motherboard is new enough that he hasn't added it to the chart.

I always recommend StarTech products because that are commercial quality.  A bit more expensive because they sell to commercial companies.  If you have questions about any of their products, you can contact their Tech Support using the Chat Live option when it is available.  It isn't showing on this page.  I have used it numerous times with great success.  Their Techs are very helpful and knowledgeable.  They don't simply look at 3"x5" cards to answer your questions.  They actually know their products.
