My HP ENVY 23's HDMI IN button is not working, I tried restarting it, removing the power plug and holding the power button down. I also reset my graphic drivers and checked for any new drivers, Nothing seems to work. Please help my as I have tried everything that has come to mind. (I am trying to connect my laptop to my computer so I can use it as the main monitor via HDMI to HDMI)

In addition to the links @NonSequitur777 listed, you can try the following and not have to use a cable. It is possible to connect laptop to desktop using Wi-Fi as explained.
https://www.techadvisor.com/how-to/laptop/laptop-second-monitor-3674679/
It is possible the desktop may need an actual Wi-Fi adapter but it is not clear as the article did not go into much detail. It did work for me as I was able to add my laptop as a 3rd monitor.

Please check for a good video signal from the laptop. Do you have a dvd player or xbox of some type?
Also try a different cable.
For example, my Surface Pro 4 requires an "active hdmi" cable as it does not put out a quality signal. I use Wi-Fi to add a second monitor as it cost nothing. I do not want buy any more stuff from Microsoft unless I had to.

Usually when i press the button it would say
"Game mode"
"no signal"
if nothing was plugged in.
today i found out that the drivers for it might be messed up because when i press the button, it act like the "tab" key on a keyboard, and highlight something random
