Hey everyone,

I am wanting to upgrade my graphics card because my current seems to be struggling with quality in the new COD MW2 game.

here is a link to my exact pc:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06222566

What  graphics card can i upgrade to without upgrading power supply and what power supply can i upgrade to if needed? Can’t seem to find an easy answer for this.

I tend to search to find the game requirements.

The requirements state:

Nvidia GeForce GTX  960   AMD Radeon RX 470    as the minimum video card specification.

Cards of that level will require a PSU to meet the card PCIe power requirements. Double slot cards need power.

You can find an AMD Radeon RX 470  or GTX 960 at budget prices, but you are going to have to include a PSU in the budget for the upgrade.

hi

Sorry @erico
you obviously mention the minimum configuration
@BMV5 to play in good condition, it does not seem to be ideal
the computer has an original NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB GDDR5 dedicated)
if this is insufficient, then you cannot hope for better without replacing the original power supply which is only 310w

Specifications required

Recommended specs to run at 60 FPS in most situations with all options set to high:
Operating system: Windows 10 64 bit (latest updates)
Processor: Intel Core i5-6600K / Core i7-4770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1400
RAM: 12 GB
High resolution asset caches: up to 32 GB
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580
Video memory: 4 GB

Competition Setup

Competition mode specifications to run at high IPS for use with a high refresh monitor:
Operating system: Windows 10 64 bit (latest updates)
Processor: Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 7 1800X
RAM: 16 GB
High resolution asset caches: up to 32 GB
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060Ti or AMD Radeon RX 5700XT
Video memory: 8 GB

Ultra 4K specs

Ultra specs to run the game at high FPS in 4k resolution:

Operating system: Windows 10 64 bit (latest updates)
Processor: Intel Core i9-9900K or AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
RAM: 16 GB
High resolution asset caches: up to 64 GB

for the graphics card, I often recommend the Asus site with filter options

just 500w

or msi

See if others offer it, price/performance may vary...

If you have the idea to replace more than the graphics card (sometimes no choice, you will have to change the power supply as well) The processor, going from 16 gb of ram to 32 gb for example depending on the age of the computer, this might not be advantageous so rather old, what you change may not be able to be reused, unlike the graphics card..Sometimes, for not that much cost, you could have a much newer, more capable computer.
