Have Windows 10 Home, Version 21H1 running on a Pavilion a6620f. Had a MS update last night that was apparently meant for Windows 11. At some point the update stopped when it couldn't complete the updates and the "Undoing changes" message came up. This morning my PC audio stopped working. MS Tech support finally uninstalled the update from last night but that did correct the audio issue. Tech said the BIOS was out of date. How can I update the BIOS on an old system if it is no longer supported by HP

Hi:
Since you are running W10 on your PC, any BIOS updates that were written for it would have been made for Windows Vista, and possibly Windows 7.
I think it would be too risky to update the BIOS, even if you can find an update.
Did you try installing the W10 Realtek audio driver directly from the Realtek site? If not, you may want to give that a try.
Accept the agreement. Download and install the Windows 64 bit driver from the link below and restart the PC.

If you want to throw caution to the wind, this discussion is in reference to the latest BIOS update for the Benicia motherboard your PC comes with. The person seems to indicate that it worked fine in W10...

hi
Warning @TDS1979
For the moment, it is not clear enough, the user is not always aware of the consequences
We can tell you, that despite everything we can install windows 11
Only, it is not without risk ..
Microsoft, warns users, but it's not very explicit
Windows 11 on devices that don't meet minimum system requirements
We risk having serious problems, probably updates, security problems, we do not really know what else
If the installation goes well for some, for others it can be complicated
Hp also might not provide any update:

Think carefully, before taking the risk, see the experiences of other users, see if it can be interesting, or if you can wait to have a new computer later, 100% compatible!
Windows 10 remains one of the best systems, and can be used for quite a while.

so your computer is quite old originally under vista
Inefficient
No matter the bios update, it may not work properly anyway with windows 11
Maybe it is better for you not to insist
