I'm trying to use a wireless mouse with my desktop computer (Compaq Presario PC). It is a - hp wireless mouse, Model# M971AU (M), Serial# BM81110821. Can anyone tell me how to make it work? Am I missing any other peice of hardware that is suppose to be used with this mouse? i.e. a receiver that is plugged into the back of the hard drive? Or something like that? Please advise, it is much appreciated.
Regards, S. Vitello

Do you mean this? Does it go in the back of the hard drive some where?? I really appreciate your help.
Oops my toesy's got in the pic. LOL!
This say Receiver on it. And it was the only one in the draw with the wireless mouse. So I believe they go together. But I'm not sure how to get them all working together. Do you know? GC Receiver - PSE06
Please advise. Thank you so much! 🙂

Hi,
No, not the back of a hard drive. You have to plug it to an USB port, any USB port should do the job. Please use "Quick Start guide" from the following link (the images are not the same but the setup is very similar):

Thanks for your help! I checked that link you gave me. Now this wireless mouse is not for a laptop. Its for my PC. With the box type hard drive sitting next to it. The set up on that page, will it work for my PC, so long as I have a USB port for the Receiver? I will check the back of my hard drive for any USB ports. I don't see any in the front of it.
Appreciate the help.
Sincerely, SLV21011

Hi,
As mentioned above, you can use similar setup for your computer (laptop or desktop). I'm using at least 8 wireless mice plus combo mouse & keyboard in my house right now and plugin the "dongle", turn on the mouse your machine should pick up automatically. You can install more software later (if any) but the mouse only has 3 buttons therefore it's very basic mouse and you do not need anything more.
Regards.
