I want to upgrade the RAM from 2x 4GB to 2x8GB, but I have been unable to find memory that works. It is either rejected by endless beeping, or simply won't boot up.
I've returned 4 different sets to Amazon so far!!
Also when I ran the Crucial program and found RAM that way, I was unable to buy it for shipment to the UK 😞
Anyone help please??

hi
you need standard ram module !
- Amount: 8 GB
- Speed: PC3-12800 MB/s
- Type: DDR3-1600
that's it ?
Orchid3 motherboard specifications.
- Quad channel memory architecture
- Two DDR3 DIMM (240-pin) sockets
- Supports DDR3 DIMMs
- PC3-14400 (DDR3-1866)
- PC3-12800 (DDR3-1600)
- PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333)
- Supports 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB or 8 GB DIMMs
- Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit systems
note:
32-bit systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory. - Supports up to 16 GB on 64-bit systems
""Also when I ran the Crucial program and found RAM that way, I was unable to buy it for shipment to the UK""
if I understand correctly that you have references directly with crucial, but that not for sale on the site for your country ...
check what is mentioned for the motherboard
look at the crucial reference, and look for the model on amazon UK, have you tried this?

In addition to the previous feedback, make sure the drivers of your HP Pavilion Desktop - 550-103na (N8X12EA) are up to date: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers.
And let's check the maximum supported RAM on your PC. First, type in: cmd in your Windows search bar, right-click on the Command Prompt App, and choose "Run as administrator", then click on: "Yes".
Then copy/paste/enter the following command:
wmic memphysical get MaxCapacity, MemoryDevices
The output shows the maximum RAM capacity in Kilobytes (KB) and the total number of memory slots on your PC, like on the PC I am using at the moment:
Here you see four RAM slots, and the maximum capacity I can install on my desktop is 64GB (divide KB by 1024 and again by 1024).
What does your PC show?
Kind Regards,

Small supplement, since we are there!
Although it is sometimes possible to go beyond the capacity indicated by hp, very often, installing a large amount of ram will not be of any major use for operation.
See, test
How to identify what is slowin...
so many time 16 gb, it ' s enough

Hi
Thanks for the note, it's most helpful
I can't buy Crucial via Amazon UK, even though they list it as a product; they can't ship to the UK it seems!
The current RAM is 4gb 1RX8 PC3L-14900U
The latest failure was "DDR3 12800 1600 PC3L-12800U 8GB DDR3L Dimm 2Rx8 1.35V/1.5V CL11"
The previous was "(8GBx2) Desktop RAM 1600MHz PC3-12800 UDIMM Non-ECC Unbuffered 1.5V 2Rx8 Dual Rank 240 Pin CL11 PC ". I did manage to get this one running and the RAM was recognised, but once the PC went to sleep it would not restart.

Hi, @Karillion
You can buy the memory recommended for your PC directly from Crucial, UK according to the website.
Crucial 8GB DDR3L-1600 UDIMM | CT102464BD160B | Crucial UK
It's very expensive on Amazon.UK.

Thanks Paul
I have in fact gone to MrMemory, who have an app to scan your PC and identify precisely what RAM you can use, and much less expensive than Crucial 🙂
I'll let you know if it works when it arrives next week
Thanks

curious that Amazon does not deliver to you??
I see here:
1RX8
failure 2Rx8 and 2Rx8 Dual Rank
which is not specified in the characteristics, but this could be a cause!
