Hi,
I have a Prodesk G4 400 with a 180 watt power supply. In order to upgrade to a MSI GTX 1050 TI video card, I need to upgrade the system power supply to the 310 watt model for this unit.
Can't seem to find a way to order the replacement (I can install it myself - upgraded 4 HP systems over the past 10 years).
For that matter, I'd like to order several parts (card reader, internal wifi card) that I can install at the same time - can't seem to find a way to order them on the HP website.
I've tried HP partsurfer but a picture I found of the PSU showing part number #901772-004 (AcBel Polytech mfg) does not work.
Heeeelp!

Hi Big Dave,
Off of this power supply image I found on an 'unboxing' of another unit. I went back to the HP website and found that the upgraded power supply was a $3 more expensive option... Doh. But there does not seem to be a way to order this PSU aftermarket.

Hi,
See my previous post.
It's available at HP Part Surfer for $60.
BTW---The GTX 1050 is not going to run full speed in your PC since the x16 slot doesn't run at x16.

Would that mean its operates at x4 all the time?
Do you have a link to the online manual? The one I can find on the HP site gives me a loading error.
...a bit of searching brought of this thread which helps to answer my last question.
Thanks for all your help!
EDIT: Just wanted to update this post. The replacement 310watt PSU arrived. It is the same size as the 180watt version. It does not have a 6-pin connector for a GPU. (And I won't be using a SATA to 6-Pin cable to power a GTX 1060...)
I've used Killawatt to record the energy usage of my system (i5 7500 w SSD) under load (before installing the 310 watt PSU) - it was an average of 50watts. This leads me to surmise that my system (with SSD instead of HD) might function with the GTX 1050 TI and only a 180 watt / 80+ PSU. Not recommended thought.

I did wind up installing the GTX 1050 TI with the old 180 watt 80+ power supply installed. It runs like a charm with a max of 120 watts power draw, even when dogfighting in Star Citizen at 1600x1200 reslution at max settings (average was 105 watts).
I'll keep the 310 watt PSU as a backup and likely install it if I see power levels go above 130 watts in some use case.

Hi
Congratulations on your successful result.
I have same problem, just bought a reconditioned Pro-desk G4 400 MT running win 10 (64-Bit) and a new MSI Geforce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card which I have been trying to fit. Unsuccessfully so far ! Have been searching on line for solutions -- when I came across this thread.
Few questions :- How did you get it to work; white or black slot; did you have to alter any BIOS setting in order for the card to be recognised ?
