When we replaced a desktop system board recently, on boot it asked for information to be programmed into the new system board.  What is the step-by-step instructions for doing so?

 

Product information not valid. The following product information programmed into the system board is missing or invalid.

System Board (00A) - Feature Byte
System Board (00A) - Build ID
System Board (00A) - Serial Number
System Board (00A) - SKU Number
System Board (00A) - Product Name

The supplier should have supplied the DMI, see here.

Thanks for this valuable information.  This is an exact HP provided system board and it arrived with no DMI information. We have been able to enter al the relevant information EXCEPT the feature byte. We are back to using leased HP desktops after having been with another brand for a while, and so far three techs have been unable to put in a feature byte without getting the dreaded "Invalid Feature Byte - CRC Failed error.

We have about 10 failed PCs that will require system boards, and hope we can solve this Feature Byte issue without returning all 10 desktops to HP.
