Hello,
according to HP diagnostics tool, I have one DDR4 memory in BANK 2 DIMM 1 socket. Memory brand is SK Hynix with 8 GB capacity and 2400 MHz frequency.
I want to increase capacity by adding another 8 GB memory.
In the old days, it was recommended to upgrade memory from the same memory manufacturer. In case of this PC, it is recommended that also?
In case I can install a memory from different manufacturer, and in case I don't find a 2400 MHz memory, can I install a faster memory, for example, a 2666 MHz memory without the risk of stability problem?
Thanks
Jaime

Hi, Jaime:
You can't go wrong by installing the exact same memory model as the original one, but that is often hard to do.
You can run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below and it should provide you the memory part number of the Hynix chip that HP installed.
Personally, I have never had a problem installing compatible memory from different manufacturers in the same PC, so it can be done.
What I recommend is to buy a compatible memory chip from Crucial.
I could not find a memory chip for your exact model, but I did find one for a similar model in the series, which should work for your PC too.
