Hi everyone,
I’m looking to upgrade the CPU in my HP TG01 and would appreciate any recommendations. Here are my current specs:
Motherboard: HP Rother 8653 (H370 chipset)
Current CPU: Intel Core i7-9700 (8-core, 8-thread 1151 LGA SOCKET)
RAM: 32GB DDR4-2666MHz
GPU: GTX 1660 TI PLAN TO MOVE ON TO NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti
Storage: 1TB SSD SPATIUM M371
PSU: 400W STOCK PSU PLAN TO MOVE ON TO700W 80 Plus Platinum proprietary HP PSU
What CPU upgrade options would be compatible with my system without changing the motherboard? I’m mainly interested in improving performance for gaming.
Thanks for your help!

Yes, that 700-watt power supply with p/n: L80662-002 / M09027-001 / M09027-003 / M82200-002 / M86379-001, is indeed compatible with your HP Pavilion TG01-0xxx gaming desktop!
As the Userbenchmark link I provided showed, the 95-watt i9-9900KF is perfectly compatible with your desktop.
You'll have to check your temps, and if it is the case that this becomes a concern, simply upgrade your CPU heatsink (and/or add one or more additional cooling fans in your case) like I did with my HP Pavilion TP01-3xxx upgrade project: Solved: Upgrading an HP Pavilion TP01-3003W (318K3AA) - Page 5 - HP Support Community - 9254350.
Please notice that I was able to install a whopping 125-watt TDP processor (with a max 190-watt TDP) in my presumably 65-watt TDP PC, though I used "QuickCPU" to throttle the TDP to 150-watt in order for this PC not to crash.
Your PC can easily manage a 95-watt CPU without having to software-wise throttle its power input.

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
The best compatible power supply upgrades you can consider I am aware of from your current 400-watt power supply with p/n: L04618-800, are either a 500-watt power supply with p/n: L05757-800 or a 650-watt power supply with p/n: L57253-003 or L36049-003.
If you know of a compatible 700-watt power supply, I would very much like to know what that would be.
The RTX 4060 Ti models are quite large (triple-fan) and may not fit in your case. Perhaps this 261mm in length model may fit -please measure carefully: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/gigabyte-rtx-4070-ti-eagle-rev-2-0.b11347.
If this card fits in your case, you'll have to get the 650-watt power supply as I referenced.
To be honest, I would rather recommend an RTX 4070 Super, such as this smaller-sized (dual fan) model, also needing the 650-watt power supply: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/asus-dual-rtx-4070-super-evo-oc.b11625.
As far as upgrading your processor is concerned: you can upgrade all the way to an i9-9900K/F if you like. A very respectful upgrade would be an i7-9700K/F, which will give you the most bang for your buck, so to speak.
Use a quality thermal paste such as Arctic MX-4 and consider upgrading your CPU heatsink and/or adding an additional cooling fan in your chassis if temps become a concern, like I did with this upgrade project of mine: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrading-an-HP-Pavilion-TP01-3....

Allo and thank you for the answer!
I was able to find a 700 watt i will link here below.

The 4060 TI is the 2 fan one , a friend of mine gifted a second hand one to me, and from what i can see it fits.
And for the processor , wouldnt there be an issue with the I9-9900K because its a 95w CPU?

Thank you , i was having serious doubts with the CPU part but now i am reassured and now i am able to give my TG a couple of more years!
I will make sure to get some inspiration from your upgrades.
Thanks again kind sir!
