can I upgrade my TPM to 2.0 module?

I want to upgrade to windows ii on my HP Elite Desk 800 G1 desktop but I need my TPM upgraded to 2.0 is this possible?

Hi:

Unfortunately, you need to have an 800 G2 to upgrade the TPM 1.2 firmware to version 2.0.

Are you wanting to do this to upgrade to W11?

Even if your PC had a TPM 2.0 security device installed, the processor falls way short of Microsoft's minimum W11 processor requirements of an Intel 8th gen core processor or newer.

If you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2.

You have to use the version of the Rufus utility that I zipped up and attached in the discussion (v3.18).

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.

 Paul, thank you  for your knowledge and time to answer my question.

Is it possible to upgrade the processor on the motherboard? I have not looked to see if the processor was soldered in during manufacture or if it can be replaced.

In my younger years I built desktop computers when my two kids went to college and they could be upgraded, but I'm lost in today's world.

You're very welcome.

Yes, the processor can be upgraded, but you are limited to only installing Intel 4th generation core processors in the 800 G1, so that would be an exercise in futility if you are upgrading the processor solely to meet the W11 hardware requirements.

I'm running W11 Pro 22H2 on a similarly equipped Dell Optiplex 7020 MT with an i5-4590 processor.

It works just fine on W11.

The first (oldest) HP Elitedesk 800 that meets Microsoft's W11 hardware requirements is the 800 G4.

No previous Elitedesk can have its hardware upgraded to meet Microsoft's W11 hardware requirements.

I'm just going to be happy and stay with what I have. Windows 11 is not a big upgrade anyway and windows 10 does everything I need to do.
