hi
If you want to replace/add a graphics card, there are a few things you need to check
You have to check the manufacturers data, for the chosen model , Dimensions, power requirements, and additional pci connectors required >see @old_geekster 's kb

for the graphics card, I often recommend the Asus site with filter options
just 500w
https://www.asus.com/motherboards-components/graphics-cards/all-series/filter?Spec=683
or msi
https://www.msi.com/Graphics-Cards
See if others offer it, price/performance may vary...
If you have the idea to replace more than the graphics card (sometimes no choice, you will have to change the power supply as well) The processor, going from 16 gb of ram to 32 gb for example depending on the age of the computer, this might not be advantageous so rather old, what you change may not be able to be reused, unlike the graphics card..Sometimes, for not that much cost, you could have a much newer, more capable computer.

Welcome to our HP User Forum!
Your OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 870-224 (Z5M58AA), according to: OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 870-224 Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support, is fitted with an Odense2-K motherboard with SSID: 82F1 and a 500-watt power supply.
As far as graphics cards is concerned, 500 watt can power an RTX 3060, RTX 2070, RX 5700, and a number of other cards. Since your motherboard is 24-pin ATX-power enabled, swapping your 500-watt power supply for any size-fitting higher wattage ATX power supply is pretty straightforward and doesn't need to break the bank.
As far as processors is concerned, I would highly recommend the i7-7700K.
Hope this was helpful.
Kind Regards,

@jwat69 check the manufacturers' recommendations, at asus here, the max will be an rtx 2060
insufficient power and you risk encountering problems if the graphics card is too powerful/requested
for replacement proceed step by step
start with the gpu for example
motherboard is limited upgrade issue
it may not be beneficial to replace everything (processor ..)
a little patience, a little money aside, and you could have ten times better!

You can power the cards I mentioned with the quality 500-watt power supply HP fitted in your desktop.
RTX 3060: Suggested PSU: 450 watt as per: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-3060.c3682
RTX 2070: Suggested PSU: 450 watt as per: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-2070.c3252
RX 5700: Suggested PSU: 450 watt as per: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-5700.c3437
As with any graphics card purchase, it speaks for itself that you will have to look carefully how many PCIe power cable(s) a card needs, and if your power supply is equipped with them.
Btw, here's an example of an upgraded OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 870-224 fitted with an i7-7700K and an RTX 3070 Ti -likely with an upgraded (600/600+ watt) power supply: HP 870-224 Performance Results - UserBenchmark.
Gaming performance looks pretty darn good to me.

And since I am challenged by the honorable @Prométhée, please allow me to present Exhibit A, so to speak. One of my legacy HP desktops upgrade projects was/is an HP ProBook 600 G3 MT, which I fitted with an i7-7700K and an RTX 3060 12GB graphics card and all of this powered issue-free by . . . [drum-roll] Yes Siree Bob, a 400-watt power supply: Solved: Upgrading HP ProDesk 600 G3 MT - HP Support Community - 8544105.
Then, for good measure, I decided to upgrade this upgrade project with an HP ProBook 600 G4 MT motherboard, fitted it with an i7-8700K, and Voilà! Mes Amis, this rig still ran fine with no graphics stuttering or other power-related nonsense: Upgrading to an HP ProDesk 600 G4 MT - HP Support Community - 8610054.
[NOTE:] I am not suggesting or recommending UNDER-powering a graphics card/PC system, just to show that graphics card manufacturers err on the side of caution = higher PSU recommendations. Another note: I found that HP-branded (OEM) graphics cards such as the HP Nvidia RTX 3060 card I used in the aforementioned upgrade projects, use less wattage than brand-named cards.
Kind Regards,

Why is that .?
What you indicate is according to certain models, it is not the case for all graphics cards
see what NVIDIA explains
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/30-series/rtx-3060-3060ti/
Required System Power (W) (4) 600 550
Supplementary Power Connectors 1x PCIe 8-pin
(adapter to 1x 12-pin included)
4 - Requirement is made based on PC configured with an Intel Core i9-10900K processor. A lower power rating may work depending on system configuration.
Note: The above specifications represent this GPU as incorporated into NVIDIA's Founders Edition or reference graphics card design. Clock specifications apply while gaming with medium to full GPU utilization. Graphics card specifications may vary by add-in-card manufacturer. Please refer to the add-in-card manufacturers' website for actual shipping specifications.
