Hello, which type of M.2 SSD (SATA and NVMe) serves better for 290-p0048d? and any spec for the M.2 SSD?

Hi:

Using the forum's search feature, I have found that the PC's with the Menlo motherboard support NVMe M.2 2280 SSD's.

Solved: M.2 SSD slot configuration AND using the PCIe x16 - HP Support Community - 6816027

You will also find specifications on other HP PC's with the Menlo motherboard where they came with M.2 NVMe SSD's from the factory.

A SATA M.2 SSD will not work in the Menlo motherboard according to the discussion below:

The M.2 slot PCIe generation is 3.0.

A PCie Gen 4.0 SSD will also work fine but it will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds from the Gen 3 slot.

thanks for answering, but my friend shared me this link, c06506015.pdf from the HP support website. the pdf showed the M.2 SATA SSD, it made me confused now.😅

I don't know why you would want to install a SATA SSD in your PC when a NVMe SSD is faster and that other forum member tried a SATA drive and it didn't work.

Anyway, if you prefer to install a SATA drive and it works, please let us know, because I don't believe it will.
