If all your desktop icons are missing, right-click an open area of the desktop, select View, and select Show desktop icons.
Note: If you're using a laptop with Windows 10 and a detachable keyboard, desktop icons do not display when using the computer in tablet mode. The computer automatically switches to tablet mode when you remove the screen from the keyboard base, and then switches back when re-attached. To turn tablet mode on or off, open the action center on the taskbar (the icon next to the date and time), and then select Tablet mode to toggle the setting.
