Hello,

I am facing a double issue with my HP ZBook Firefly 14 inch G9. The laptop is showing a "0xc000000e" boot error (Recovery screen), and I cannot access the BIOS settings to fix the boot order because it is protected by a BIOS administrator password that I don't have.

Device Details:

Model: HP ZBook Firefly 14 inch G9

Product ID: 71M60EC

Warranty Status: Active

I am a Software Engineering student and I need this device for my academic projects. Since the device is under warranty, I would appreciate it if an HP expert could guide me on how to reset the BIOS password (SMC.bin) and resolve the boot issue.

Note: I have the Serial Number ready to provide via Private Message (PM) to any authorized HP agent.

Thank you.

Hello @hmizo05 ,

Welcome to the HP community.

This is just a peer-to-peer community forum and not HP support.

A quick community search for the terms BIOS & Password finds all these posts >here<, which are mainly closed.

Here is HP's official policy regarding BIOS passwords:

According to the Community's Rules of Participation:

4d. No posts shall include instructions/directions intended to bypass or subvert security mechanisms such as lock screens, BitLockers, BIOS lock, passwords, fingerprint/biometry scanners, PINs, or any other safety measures.

Therefore, this topic is being locked.

If the unit is still in warranty, contact HP support.

Best regards
