HP Pavilion 590-p0201a
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I’m trying to set my computer back to Factory Defaults, but have encountered a problem. I have downloaded the HP Recovery Manager and created the USB boot disk to reload Windows 10 from scratch, but when I boot from this USB I receive the following error code: 0XFFEE016.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a solution for this?

Searching this forum for that error-code, I found:

Recovery Manger Error 0xFFEE016 - HP Support Community - 6424654

Is this helpful?

Unfortunately, there is no simple "solution" for this as this means the media is corrupt and will not work.

If the diagnostics find no drive issues, that confirms the issue is the media, not the drive.

Also, the phone support link in the linked thread is useless because HP dropped US phone support some time ago.

Your only recourse now is to make Win10 install media from Microsoft and reinstall Windows using it:

1) Use this link to download and create Win10 install media: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
2) insert that into your PC and BOOT boot from it. This will start an installation that should take no more than 30 minutes to complete.
3) If you are forced to use an MSN account for Windows, do not worry, as after you get it up and running, you can later switch to a local account.
4) If you are presented with a window asking for a product key, down near the bottom is a entry you can click to skip that. Do NOT enter a product key, as when you finish and get back online, Windows will check with the Activation Servers, find out your PC was already running Win10 and reactivate it.
