Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Is there a way to hard reset the power-on password? My passwords are in iCloud and I can’t get them back, my number was sim swapped and my account was compromised, then removed 😩

Hi @ikyleboxing,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding omen laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you've forgotten the power-on password (BIOS password) for your OMEN 30L Desktop PC GT13-1000a, you can try these methods to reset it:

Clear CMOS (BIOS Reset)

This will reset the BIOS settings, including the power-on password.

  1. Turn Off the PC and unplug the power cable.
  2. Open the Side Panel of your desktop.
  3. Locate the CMOS battery (a small, round coin-cell battery) on the motherboard.
  4. Remove the CMOS Battery and wait 5-10 minutes.
  5. Press and Hold the Power Button (without plugging it in) for 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
  6. Reinsert the CMOS Battery, close the case, and power on your PC.

Your BIOS password should now be reset!

BIOS Jumper Reset

If removing the battery doesn’t work, try resetting via the jumper method:

  1. Locate the CMOS jumper (labelled as CLR_CMOS, JBAT1, or RTC_RST).
  2. Move the jumper cap from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3 (or if it's two pins, short them with a screwdriver).
  3. Wait for 30 seconds, then move the jumper back to its original position.
  4. Restart the PC and check if the password is gone.
