Reffy or anyone, need your help.... I removed all the screws at pictured in the PDF you posted and yet the bottom plate does not just "pop off". I still cannot seem to remove it. I have the Envy 27 b010 so it might be different? I am able to pry the speaker side of things open some but there is no give to it so I cannot force it open. I rmoved a total of 11 screws on the base of the machine. Is there something else I am missing?

Hi jwl244,
I have the Envy 27-b155qd, and have only been able to remove 6 phillips screws under the rubber feet.
I haven't been able to locate the 4 hidden screws under a thin foil label that Reffy mentioned, my b155qd seems to have a solid plastic base (see photo I posted earlier in this thread).
Can you tell me where the other 4-5 hidden screws were located in the base of your b010 please?
Thanks

yes, what you have to do is feel and press on the middle where the foil is. You will feel a divet or hole and this is where you have to poke through to expose the screw. Most people use an xacto blade to cut around it. I just used a screwdriver.

Dawfy I looked at your picture. That is the foil in the middle. Might feel hard but push around and you'll see what I mean. You should feel a divet with your fingertip. I still cannot figure out how to get it off but I did remove those screws...

How long were the screws that you did remove?
Maybe, if they were long, they "released" the top-plate (around the keyboard), so that it can be lifted off, to expose the insides.
Or, if you press firmly on the plate, does it "give" or "flex" slightly? If so, it may be a "press-fit".
Compare to the press-fit of a metal bottle-top on a glass bottle (beer, CokyCola, et cetera).
It might be possible for a tiny flat-blade screwdriver to be wedged into one side of the plastic plate, to "pop" it off.
Or, take the computer to a qualified computer technician.
