There are different "Assistants" .
The following is relevant to the HP Support Assistant.
Start here:
Reference: HP PCs - Using HP Support Assistant (Windows)
Open section Fix problems related to HP Support Assistant
Follow the instructions in sub-section Uninstall and reinstall HP Support Assistant
"Get" and install a new copy of the app from Download HP Support Assistant
If / when asked to sign in, do so using your HP Account credentials.
