I am having a hard time logging in. Ive done everything possible with no luck. I seem to have a virus and I’m trying to reset to factory settings. But without loggin in, I’m unable to reach that page to do so. I thought there was a way of opening the pc by holding certain keys to start a factory hard reset. Please advise and TIA.

@Bill_Sakkab74 -- I would:

  1. open the computer
  2. remove the current disk-drive
  3. purchase a new SSD (Solid State Device) -- 5 times faster than any "spinning" disk-drive
  4. connect the new SSD
  5. install Windows onto the SSD
  6. reconnect the old disk-drive as a "secondary" disk-drive
  7. copy all your Personal Files from that disk-drive onto your SSD

Done!

Hello

maybe you don't have the financial means, in the immediate future, to spend money on your computer, and unless you have no choice, a defective hdd for example @Bill_Sakkab74 ?
You should clarify, what exactly is your problem...

this type of computer, being relatively fragile, you risk damaging it even more, by trying to open it, do not hesitate in this case, to consult a professional if necessary

Upgrading & Servicing Guide

so check if you don't have a hardware problem instead

HP PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures | HP® Customer Support

here you have the options / indication, how to reinstall the computer

Software recovery options (Windows 11 and Windows 10)

Reset the computer

You risk losing all your personal data
If there are no backups, you will have to try to recover this data, get help if necessary

You can try several things in order to try to recover your data

You can try a bootable cd / dvd type live cd (linux)

https://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/how-to-retrieve-windows-files-using-a-linux-live-cd/

you can try removing the hard drive, in order to connect it to another computer internally, or with a usb adapter!

If your disk is not completely out of order, this gives you a small chance
