I just bought a new computer and I get error code critical process died. I can't get in to log on to start the startup process.

You just bought it ? That product has a release date of June 2018. Sounds like NOS.... New Old Stock being unloaded by well known retailer. Take it back ASAP. NOS is not HP's fault. Over stocked items get re-sold to liquidators, then re-sold to your seller. It has been bouncing around in the system for 2 years.

HP would auto-validate as expired product, and without proof of sale, help is moot. Do you really want an issue ?
