HP Pavilion Desktop - 550-036
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I added ram to my HP Pavilion 550-036 then shortly after a bird flew into the power lines knocking out the power. As luck would have it at that exact moment I had just clicked to begin going back to a Windows restore point (some luck). It put my pc into a boot loop that wasn't booting from the C: drive. I needed to reinstall from my recovery media that I had created when I first got the Pc. No problem, I have done it literally over 180 times ( due to the windows insider program). This time it said I could not use my recovery media anymore. I had to start with a windows install. I am missing some software that it needs like Recovery Manager, Cyberlink media & related software. I can get it back in windows 10 for most Cyberlink stuff.  Also the HP Support Assistant isn't really finding anything as far as drivers. And I can't install Intel Rapid Storage Technology AHCI software & drivers. It gives a error saying >net client v4.5 not installed even though it is part of the Operating System. Is there anyway to either download the missing software or use my recovery media? Or am I stuck buying recovery media? For something as simple as adding RAM? That's usually the first thing people do. I really need my Pc to work properly. I am using the Professional version of Windows 8.1 before I upgrade to windows 10 education

Thank you in advance,

Larry

Windows 10  is a free upgrade from a professional 8

As part of Windows 10's first November update in 2015, Microsoft changed the Windows 10 installer disc to also accept Windows 7 or 8.1 keys. This allowed users to perform a clean install Windows 10  and enter a valid Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 key during installation.

You should be able to install Windows 10 educational ISO directly and then just put your 8 serial number in

you may not even need the serial number since you were previously license for 10 educational

it may not be possible to upgrade from 8 to 10 as some service packs for 8 may not be available on the microsoft server

I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you. I had a health issue come up. I was able to upgrade to windows 10 pro that wasn't to much of an issue. I still need to get back the missing software. How can I do that? Also the HP Support Assistant doesn't find any drivers. It doesn't even detect that I am on OEM BIOS. It has only offered Hardware Diagnostic UEFI download & nothing else.

Thank you in advance,

Larry D
