Hi @Genel41, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand that the hard drive is still not getting recognized on your PC after troubleshooting.

Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a different PC, Is it working?

However, you can try the steps mentioned below.

Go to device manager -> under storage controllers select the "USB Attached SCSI (UAS) Mass Storage Device.

connect the drive -> right click and select update driver software ->browse my computer option -> let me pick option.

In the list, driver select mass storage device and clicked OK

If the issue still persists it could be a connector issue.

change the 2.5 SATA to USB 2.0 Adapter and check if the hard drive works.

I'll watch your reply!

Have a beautiful day ahead! 🙂

I did try these steps on another PC a Win. 7 and it was the same as this new one but I also have another hard drive which is a Seagate Barracuda 7200-12 and it is same as the other one . But this one does show as another drive Disk { D } that is all it shows for this drive . The WD Purple Surveillance does not show at all on erither . Gene

@Genel41, thanks for your quick response and time.

Thanks for trying out the steps.

It certainly looks to be an issue with the hard drive connector or the hard drive itself.

As you mentioned the Seagate hard drive is getting detected on your PC.

I would suggest you try replacing the hard drive connector and check again.

Have a great day ahead! 🙂

I recently called the WD company and I did not get to a support man but a sales person suggested to open the PC metal box and I had an older PC 7 and connected and it was easy . But I had thought of that my self but I thought I could connect it usb . I guess it was to much for us all that way . But can I put some kind of small program in there but where to put it that would make it easier to do this next time .

You know though I connected it to my PC 10 after and it took about 15 minutes to load this green line in the address bar at the top I do not know what this has to do with it . And when this was green was going across the top there was a quite and assortment of tool buttons at the top left . Now it is all there to do whatever I want to do with it . It sure was not there before . Can I put some type of small program in there to make it easy to format and where to put it . Thanks for your help .

I called WD and I didn't get supprt I got sales and he suiggested that I open my PC and attatch the drive internal which I thought of that but I got a new PC at christmas and did not want tyo open my new PC . But I do have an older windows 7 and put it on there and it was easy to conect and formated ie in about 15 seconds . I had just take it to a local to see if they would do it for $20. no he wanted $100. It would be cheaper to buy a new one I think. But it is done now and when I click on my PC it comes up with all the drives on there with the tools on the uipper left to do whatever needs to be done.

Can I put a shall space it this disc to where it would be easier to formart it ? Thaks for your in trying to solve my problem. Gene

@Genel41, thanks for your generous response.

Have you tried connecting different flash drives and are they getting detected on your PC?

If the flash drives are getting detected then it is a problem with the WD drive.

Please contact WD support and get the drive replaced.

Hope you have a great day ahead! 🙂
