from old to new desktop

Certainly elementary (to y'all!) but the thought (literally) just came to me....bought my current

desktop Nov 2010 & have no idea if anything (or how) was kept from the previous crappy Dell.

Plus, current desktop came with W7-Home (with consistent updates) is currently Windows 10.

However, HP models I'm shopping now (chasing sales/discounts/etc) are all Windows 11-Home.

Advice?  Instructions?  Suggestions?  Diagrams with stick people for the near-idiots (like me)??

Sorry, but can you elaborate, what exactly are the questions?
if you want to buy a new computer, indeed the most recent will be with windows 11
New computers, new technology, and new system
it should be possible to still find computers with windows 10, but at some point microsoft will do as it has always done, push to the new system
It takes time to get used to, but you get used to it pretty quickly.

Shopping for new W11 desktop; but had current unit so long, actually forget how I transferred from one to other.

How to retain  programs/apps/sites/passwords/etc....or will I need to literally 'start over' by reloading everything?

Depending on some programs can be transferred with specialized software
But to see, because if they are too old it is better to check the updates if they can work on a new system, or if they need to be replaced
For saved / site passwords, you can do it simply with certain browser
I don't know for everyone, but with firefox, you have to create an account, you can save the information, in order to then synchronize on another computer for example
