Hi @PippoCD,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the Windows 10 installation issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check BIOS Boot Settings

Restart PC → Press Esc repeatedly → Enter F10 BIOS Setup.

Go to Storage / Boot Options:

Boot Mode = UEFI (not Legacy).

Secure Boot = Enabled (for Windows 10 install).

CSM / Legacy Support = Disabled.

Save changes and exit.

Verify Bootable USB Creation

Use Windows Media Creation Tool (official Microsoft tool) to recreate the bootable USB.

Ensure USB is formatted as FAT32 with GPT partition scheme (for UEFI).

Try another USB drive if possible.

Connect USB to Rear Ports

Insert USB installer into a rear motherboard USB 2.0 port (not front panel / USB 3.0).

Start Windows Setup

Boot PC → Press Esc → F9 Boot Menu → Select the USB drive.

If Windows setup loads, proceed with installation.

If Setup Freezes or Reboots

Disconnect any secondary drives (keep only the new SSD connected).

Remove unnecessary peripherals (printers, external HDDs, etc.).

Test with only one RAM stick installed if multiple are present.

Clear Old Boot Entries

In BIOS, check Boot Order and remove entries pointing to old HDD.

Set USB Drive as first boot device.

Run Hardware Diagnostics

Restart PC → Press Esc → F2: System Diagnostics.

Run Memory Test and Storage Test to confirm RAM/SSD health.

Check for BIOS Update

Visit HP Support → Enter model → Download and update the latest BIOS.

Sometimes installation issues are fixed in newer firmware.

Final Option – Try Legacy Boot

If UEFI install keeps failing, go to BIOS → Enable Legacy Support → Disable Secure Boot.

Recreate the USB in MBR partition scheme for Legacy mode.

Try installing Windows again.

I hope this helps.

Thanks. I tried uefi or legacy. Pendrives works in other computers... Usb 2 or 3 tried, back usbs too. Only 1 ram (tried another one too), no other peripherals or hdd, dvd... Windows installazion start, after white loading bar (loading files...) system reboot (windows 10). Installation of Windows 11 Freeze on Windows 11 logo instead. There was Win 10 earlier... Now i can't install windows. Tried other ssd too, other sata cable too... Any other suggested? How can i upgrade bios? I have an old version...thanks

Hi @PippoCD,

Thank you for the response, since you’re consistently rebooting just after the “loading files” bar in Windows 10 setup (and freezing on the Windows 11 logo), it’s very likely firmware / compatibility / low-level hardware rather than the USB stick or SSD.
Here’s a step-by-step approach that usually fixes this class of problem on the HP Pavilion 590-A0010NL.

1. Do a Full CMOS/BIOS Reset

Sometimes an incomplete NVRAM clear causes UEFI to hang at OS hand-off.

Unplug power cable.

Press and hold the power button for 10–15 sec to discharge residual power.

Open the case → locate the CMOS battery → remove it for 5 minutes.

Put the battery back, reconnect power.

Boot → press Esc → F10 → Load Defaults / Restore Factory Defaults → Save & Exit.

2. Update BIOS Before Installing Windows

Your system’s original BIOS may pre-date current SSD and Windows bootloader code.

On another working PC:

Go to HP Customer Support – Software and Drivers.

Enter 590-A0010NL.

Download the latest BIOS Update (SoftPaq) for your exact motherboard.

Copy the BIOS file to a FAT32-formatted USB stick.

Plug that USB into the Pavilion.

Boot → press Esc → F2 → BIOS Update / HP Firmware Update (or sometimes F10 → BIOS Management → Update BIOS).

Let the update complete (do not power off).

If the BIOS is extremely old, updating often fixes the reboot-after-loading-files problem.

3. Minimal-Hardware Test Boot

Leave connected only:

1 × known-good RAM stick

New SSD

Keyboard / mouse

Installer USB in a rear USB 2.0 port

Unplug any extra drives, external HDDs, printers, front-panel USB devices.

4. Correct BIOS Settings for Windows 10

After update/reset:

Boot Mode: UEFI

Secure Boot: Enabled

Legacy Support / CSM: Disabled

SATA Mode: AHCI (not RAID or IDE)

Set USB stick as first boot device.

Save & exit.

5. Re-create the Installer USB (for UEFI-GPT)

Even if it worked elsewhere, re-build it to avoid subtle corruption.

Use the official Microsoft Media Creation Tool.

Target USB should be FAT32, partition scheme = GPT for UEFI.

Prefer a brand-name 8–32 GB stick.

6. If It Still Fails at the Same Point

Try a Legacy/CSM installation as a diagnostic step:

In BIOS:

Enable Legacy Support / CSM

Disable Secure Boot

Use Rufus on another PC to create a Windows 10 installer with MBR for BIOS/Legacy.

Boot and attempt installation.

If this works, it confirms the issue was in UEFI firmware / Secure Boot.

7. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

At startup → press Esc → F2 → Component Tests → run:

Memory test

Storage test

A bad RAM stick or faulty new SSD can also reboot at that stage.

I hope this helps.

Thank you very much. The only step i can't do is... Upgrade firmware: F2 Key isn't working for bios, and no menu in bios for upgrade... I made usb Pendrive with latest bios, but how can i update it? Thanks

Hi @PippoCD,

Thank you for the detailed follow-up!
I understand that you’re still unable to install Windows on your HP Pavilion 590-a0010nl and that your current BIOS version is old with no in-BIOS update option.
Let’s work step-by-step to get the BIOS updated so that the Windows installation can proceed normally.

1. Confirm Startup Menu Access

Since the F2 key isn’t opening Diagnostics, let’s first make sure you can still access the Startup Menu:

Shut down the PC.

Turn it back on and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly (about one press per second).

You should see the Startup Menu.

From there:

F10 → BIOS Setup

F9 → Boot Menu

F11 → Recovery (if available)

If the Startup Menu does not appear at all, unplug the PC, hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge residual power, reconnect the power cable, and try again.

2. Create a BIOS Recovery USB

Since you cannot update BIOS from inside the existing BIOS interface, you’ll need to use the HP BIOS Recovery / Flash tool.

On another working Windows PC:

Go to HP Software and Driver Downloads.

Enter your product: HP Pavilion 590-a0010nl.

Under BIOS, download the latest BIOS SoftPaq (an .exe file).

Insert a blank USB flash drive (8 GB or smaller is recommended).

Run the downloaded file and select Create Recovery USB Drive when prompted.

Once the process completes, safely eject the USB.

3. Perform BIOS Recovery / Update

Insert the prepared USB into a rear USB 2.0 port on the Pavilion 590-a0010nl.

Power on the PC and immediately press Windows + B (keep them held down) and then press the Power button for 2-3 seconds.

Release the Power button but keep holding Windows + B until you see the BIOS Update screen or hear beeps.

Follow the on-screen instructions to update the BIOS.

Important:

Do not interrupt the power supply during the update.

The update may take several minutes and the system may restart a few times.

If Windows + B doesn’t work, try Windows + V with the same method.

4. After BIOS Update

Enter BIOS Setup (Esc → F10).

Restore defaults (F9 → Yes → F10 to save and exit).

Ensure these settings:

Boot Mode: UEFI

Secure Boot: Enabled

Legacy Support / CSM: Disabled

5. Retry Windows Installation

Use the official Microsoft Media Creation Tool to create a fresh Windows 10 USB installer (FAT32, GPT format).

Connect it to a rear USB 2.0 port.

Boot the PC, press Esc → F9 to open Boot Menu, and select the USB.

Make sure only the new SSD is connected (disconnect other drives).

If installation still fails after the BIOS update, try:

Testing RAM sticks one by one.

Running hardware diagnostics (Esc → F2, once it’s working again).

If UEFI continues to fail, temporarily disable Secure Boot and enable Legacy Boot, then recreate the USB in MBR format.

Next Step:
Please let us know if you were able to successfully launch the BIOS recovery process. Once the BIOS is up to date, the Windows installer usually runs smoothly.

I hope this helps.
