HP ENVY 23-d052 TouchSmart All-in-One Desktop PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had this desktop for many years now and it has worked tremendously and fast. that was until I updated it to the windows 10 and it took away brightness slider/adjuster so there is no way to turn down the brightness, and it also took away the Bluetooth on/off button completely so there is no way to wirelessly connect any of my Bluetooth keyboards or headphones without using a plugged in Bluetooth receiver. the update also took away the audio, but I figured out how to get it back on another thread someone put out. please help!

note: I tried the solution on this thread regarding brightness control, but it did not work.

Hi:

You're on the right track but you need to have the right graphics driver to install which you won't find by following those instructions to the letter.

So, here's what you need to do...there is no W10 driver for the AMD Radeon HD 7650A so you need to manually install the W8.1 driver as follows...

Download and save, but do not run this graphics driver file.

HP ENVY 23-d052 TouchSmart All-in-One Desktop PC Software and Driver Details

Then download and install this free file unzipping utility.  The 1st file listed at the top of the page is for 64-bit operating systems.

7-Zip

After you install 7-Zip, right click on the sp63890.exe driver file you saved.

Select 7-Zip from the list of items on the menu.

Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the file into its folder name (sp63890).

After that is done, go to the device manager.

Click to expand the Display adapters device manager category.

Click on the Microsoft Basic Display adapter listed there.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and then at the bottom of that window, select the 'Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.'

Click on Have disk and browse to the driver folder 7-Zip created>src>Packages>Drivers>Display>WB6A_INF>CU162314 (setup information file>select the AMD Radeon(TM) HD 7650A Graphics adapter listed there, click Next, and the driver should install.

Then restart the PC and you should be able to adjust the screen brightness and display resolution.

Bluetooth:  Sorry, but there is no fix for that.

The Ralink Bluetooth adapter is not supported on the newer builds of W10 and completely disappears from the device manager.

Your options are:

Easy:  install a USB Bluetooth adapter.

Moderately difficult:  Replace/upgrade the internal Ralink Wi-Fi/Bluetooth adapter with this model:

Broadcom BCM4352 802.11ac 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 combo    HP part #  724935-001

You can usually find one of these cards on eBay.  Search by the HP part number.

Support for the PC has been retired by HP and there are no available service manuals for it unless you google your PC's model number and find one on a 3rd party website.
