Pavilion Desktop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi folks. This is really bugging me. I have a HP Pavilion Desktop PC with Windows 10 installed on internal SSD. I'm trying to install Windows 7 on the internal HDD. I boot from my genuine Windows 7 CD and the Windows files load fine. Until the Install page comes up. Then my mouse dies so I can't click on Install. I've tried using both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports. I thought it might be a driver issue but Device Manager tells me drivers are the latest. Anyone out there know what's going on? Please help.

PS I'm using a wireless Microsoft mouse and a wireless TECKNET keyboard.

@hifibri

You didn't bother to tell us what model it is.

Some newer HP PCs that come with Win10 preloaded simply will not load or run with Win7.  Backwards compatibility is not guaranteed with new Win10 PCs that you want to use with Win7.

Sorry.........it's a HP Pav 570-p046na

NB  I'm not trying to replace Windows 10 - I'm trying to install 7 on a separate internal HDD, so I can dual boot.

@hifibri,

"PS I'm using a wireless Microsoft mouse and a wireless TECKNET keyboard". 😔

The simple answer is that your not using wired USB keyboard and mouse for the installation process.

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..

You mean it will work with WIRED mouse and keyboard?

@hifibri

it SHOULD.  When you boot the PC, Windows drivers, which are needed for WiFi connections, are not loaded yet.

After you install Windows, and then reboot, you should then be able to reconnect the WiFi devices.

Okeydokey; I've ordered the wired mouse and keyboard. Will let you know once I've tested your theory. Thanks a ton.

Seems it's not that simple. I purchased a wired keyboard/mouse from Amazon but the cursor STILL won't budge!
