@thebronzeman -- There is nothing wrong with my HP Printer it works fine

To supplement what @BeemerBiker referenced, that DLL (Dynamic Link Library) is part of the ink-level monitoring software.  So, even though you can print without incident, can you monitor the ink-levels ?

Maybe, reinstalling the HP printer-driver software will write that "missing" file onto your computer. Then, that app will tell you the level of the inks in your printer -- a useful bit (pun intended) of knowledge, because one always runs-out of ink at the worst-possible time.   😞

This problem is now resolved following advice on another forum. The answer lay in deleting a hidden shortcut in the AppData folders. For the benefit of anyone following this thread, the successful response was:

Quote:

Look in:

c:\users\*username*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\

(it's a hidden folder - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/w...w-hidden-files)

For Monitor Ink Alerts - HP Photosmart 5510 series.lnk or anything HP printer related. Delete it.

Hi,

I went through the advice given, but it has not helped, the error message is till coming up.

I have no problem monitoring the ink levels and the other suggestion further down did not clear up the issue.

I read your response with other related links and yes it all makes sense. I hve tried following other suggestions from Forum members who have also experienced the same.

It looks like I will have to contact HP here in the UK to resolve this matter.

There is a possible solution but it involves running an un-installer like REVO or editing the registry.

I am guessing the following, correct me if I am wrong:

C:\program files\HP\HP office jet pro8600\bin\hp status bl. dll

does not exist.

You looked in "c:\program files\HPO\HP Office jet pro8600" and that file was not there.

There are two ways to fix the problem.  The most straightforward but risky is to edit the registry and use the find feature to locate "hp status bl.dll" (must be spelled exactly like your display shows.  Are you sure there are spaces in the filename?)

Since the file does not exist, any reference to it is meaningless so safe to delete.  One should ALWAYS create a windows 10 restore point in case the registry gets corrupted before editing the registry..

The other way is to re-install the old driver and then use REVO to uninstall.  REVO has the option to removed any residual settings from the register and it also creates a restore point.  After running the uninstall you must select "advanced" then  "scan" and then put an {X} in the list of registry objects and tell REVO to delete them.

REVO is free for non-commercial use and  FWIW, I have seen DELL service reps use it with remote desktop to fix problems.

Good Luck!
