Hi @mkmr484,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When an HP OmniStudio reports that the camera is blocked or turned off by a switch, it is almost always due to a built-in privacy feature. Because you are using an All-in-One desktop, try sliding the physical camera shutter to the open position or check for a physical privacy switch.

If the physical switch is toggled and the issue persists, the steps below can help resolve the privacy and driver blocks:

1. Check Windows Privacy Permissions:

Windows 11 features strict privacy permissions that can lock your webcam.

  • Right-click the Start button and select Settings.

  • Navigate to Privacy & security on the left menu.

  • Scroll down to App permissions and click Camera.

  • Ensure Camera access, Let apps access your camera, and Let desktop apps access your camera are all turned ON.

2. Uninstall and Reinstall the Camera Driver:

Device Manager toggles sometimes fail, so doing a clean driver reinstall is often necessary.

  • Press Win + X and select Device Manager.

  • Expand Cameras or Imaging devices.

  • Right-click your camera device and select Uninstall device. If a prompt asks to "Attempt to remove the driver for this device", check the box.

  • Restart your PC. Windows will automatically reinstall a generic webcam driver.

3. Install Optional Windows Updates:

Windows 11 frequently releases updates that patch webcam firmware compatibility issues.

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options.

  • Click on Optional updates and install any available driver/camera updates.

4. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics:

To test if the hardware is fully detected at the firmware level, use HP's built-in tool:

  • Search for and open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.

  • Navigate to Component Tests > Camera and run the test.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
