I've noticed in my reliability chart that this program called "HP one agent" has been on my computer constantly getting reconfigured and it clogging up the reliability chart is getting on my nerves. How do I stop my computer from doing that or, worst case scenario, uninstall One Agent?

The "HP One Agent" is a software component that is typically associated with HP devices and is responsible for system management and updates. If you're experiencing issues with it constantly reconfiguring and affecting your reliability chart, you have a few options to address the situation.

 

Update HP One Agent: Ensure that your HP One Agent is up-to-date. Sometimes, constant reconfigurations may be a result of the software trying to update itself or apply changes. You can check for updates through the HP Support Assistant or the official HP website.

Adjust Update Settings: You can modify the update settings for HP One Agent to control when it checks for updates. This can often be done within the settings of the HP Support Assistant or directly in the HP One Agent software.

Uninstall HP One Agent: If you find that the software is causing persistent issues, you may consider uninstalling it. To uninstall HP One Agent:

  • Press Win + X and select "Apps and Features" from the menu.
  • Locate "HP One Agent" in the list of installed programs.
  • Click on it and select "Uninstall."

 

Remember to back up important data before making any significant changes to your system, and carefully follow the instructions provided by HP

Hi,

About the issue with HP One Agent causing restore points to be created at every logon
(or reinstalls itself if you uninstalled it beforehand).
I think I have identified the reason.
The initial installation of "HP One Agent" created a scheduled task named "HPOneAgentRepairTask" that fires at each logon
This task launches the application "C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\{a627b9e0-7cf0-4264-a532-0a44e949e6f5}\HPOneAgent.exe" with the /repair option.

Extract from the export file in xml format of the scheduled task named "HPOneAgentRepairTask": HPOneAgentRepairTask.xml

This causes the reinstallation of "HP One Agent" and therefore the creation of a restore point by Windows before installation.
So by deactivating this scheduled task named "HPOneAgentRepairTask" this reinstallation no longer takes place and there is no more creation of a restore point.
This "interim" solution seems to work for me... while waiting for a fix from HP.

Aparentemente se desinstala, pero vuelve a instalarse, ya que después de desinstalar, queda en driverstore/filerepository/hpcustomapcomp.inf.amd64, y hay que borrar de la carpeta x64. Todo ello en system32, del sistema. Un saludo

I don't see any options related to HP One Agent in HP Support Assistant, nor do I see a way to launch an HP One Agent user interface.

As BV92 noted above,  an easy way to get rid of the constant HP One Agent reconfigurations is to call up the Windows Task Scheduler, (enter Task Scheduler in the Windows search box) then click on Libraries (left side of the screen). You should see a task called "HpOneAgentRepairTask". Click on that to highlight it, then right click it, and then click on "Disable" from the drop down list.  That will prevent this service from running.

 

I did this earlier today, rebooted my computer, and HP One Agent did not appear in my Windows Reliability History graph. (It always did after a re-boot or re-start ever since it was installed sometime last week.)

Thanks. But before I remove it, I'd like to know if it does anything useful, on the theory that HP paid the people who developed this software for a reason. Nobody seems to have a clear answer to this simple quesiton.

Thanks for trying my method of disabling the scheduled task "HpOneAgentRepairTask" and glad to see that it resolves the issue.
Thank you also for clarifying, for those for whom it is not obvious, how to deactivate this task.
However, one question remains: why this scheduled task ?
