RE: Note 1: Does this issue also exist on HP PCs running Windows 11 or is it only present on PCs running Windows 10 ?

I'm running Windows 11 Home (ver. 22H2).

While it may only add to the  mystery, I spotted this statement in a post made on the Microsoft forum --

" HP One Agent is a utility installed to keep either your PC drivers (if you have a HP PC) or HP printer drivers up to date.... "  SEE:  https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/successful-application-reconfiguration/ae5389a...

I'm not a member of the Microsoft forum, so I can't ask the poster (DaveM121) whether this is simply an assumption on his part, or whether he has some concrete knowledge about the software.

Once you use Revo Uninstaller to delete all the registry keys/strings, you must shut down ALL Windows updates. That is the only way to stop it. If Windows Updates are activated, it force installs HP One Agent.....and it is malware

I've scanned all the HP files, including the ones in the HP One Agent folder, and Avast! antivirus doesn't flag any of them as malware. They are legit HP programs, it's just not clear what they do.

The HP Agent One Service log shows that the service collects a lot of data, but what it does with data is still a mystery to us and apparently to the average support person at HP.

Hello everyone,

After reading your posts (thanks for your comments) and cross-referenced with my own research, I actually think that HP One Agent is a telemetry tool collecting technical information from the PC that HP needs
and may subject to updating certain obsolete HP drivers.
(See file C:\Program Files\HP\HP One Agent\hp-one-agent-service.log).

Anyway, even if this service is useful to HP, it is not normal for the installation of it to add this scheduled task "HPOneAgentRepairTask"(triggered at each session opening) and who is responsible for the inconveniences observed.

Additionally, if you go to Windows Settings / Applications and features and select the "HP One Agent" application, then "Modify", in the "HP One Agent Setup" Pop Up window which opens,
there is a "Repair" button, which means user can perform repair of this application if necessary.

However, the scheduled task "HPOneAgentRepairTask" (carrying in its very name the notion of repair) and moreover running HP One Agent.exe with the / Repair option, apparently does the same thing but without the user's consent .

If there was not this scheduled task which we cannot get rid of, there would be no problem (apart from the question we may ask about the use made of this collected data).

So the question remains: why is it there? Is this intentional, is it a bug?

To this day, I have no answer to this. But I continue to investigate.

Recuerda primero desinstalar. Un saludo

I wonder if HP One Agent is related to having an HP PC or an HP printer as I have both. Some people I know having only HP printers do not have HP One AGENT; and you ?

Hi JBRATI,

Just to provide an element of reflection on what justifies the presence or not of "HP One Agent".

Here are 2 configurations for information:

HP Laptop Spectre x360  15-eb0013nf
Year                           : 2020
 OS                             : Windows 10 Home 22H2 Build 19045.3930

HP printer                : No
Other HP device     : No
HP Support Assist : Yes

=> HP one Agent is present.

HP Laptop  15s-fq2076nfde
Year                           : 2023
OS                              : Windows 11 Home 23H2 Build 22631.3007

HP printer                : No
Other HP device     : No
HP Support Assist : Yes

=> HP one Agent is missing.

In these 2 configurations, one has "HP one Agent" and the other does not.

On the other hand "HP One Agent" can also be present on an HP PC running Windows 11 (See post by Ortho_Fan from 02-10-2024 01:43)

So it is difficult to draw a conclusion as to the criterion of the presence or absence of "HP One Agent".
