HP ENVY 750-110
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am trying to connect 2 HP 27b curved monitors to my HP Envy 750-110 desktop. Both monitors have 1 HDMI port and I display port. My desktop has only 1 HDMI port.  I was told I connect the 2nd monitor by purchasing a 2 output HDMI splitter. I did and  have connected both monitors to it, however my second monitor is not detected. I see the same the same thing on both monitors. How do I fix it so the 2nd monitor is detected?

What you are seeing is what to be expected.  Using " a 2 output HDMI splitter" just duplicates the input.  To say that the second monitor is not detected, is not exactly correct as it is displaying the signal, just as it is designed.

Since the HP ENVY 750-110 does not have a second HDMI or a Displayport, then an easy option to feed a second monitor is to use a USB to HDMI/DVI adapter, similar to this

https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Graphics-Multiple-2048x1152-1920x1080/dp/B00A2E1MQA

Don't be fooled by a non-active "cable" but get the above style adapter.  I have the Plugable devices to be very reliable.

Another possible choice is this

https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-DisplayPort-Supporting-Resolution/dp/B018YHTUNI

While I have not used that device.

Thank you for so much for your quick response. I have been using your response to do a little research. I looked at the back of my HP Envy 750-110 again and I do have a VGA port. Could I use a VGA to HDMI adapter or cable to connect the 2nd monitor?  I want to be able to use both monitors , not just have the input duplicated on the 2nd monitor. Both of the monitors are the same, HP 27b curved, each having  1 HDMI port and 1 Display port. The first monitor is connected to the desktop with an HDMI cable.

I did notice that you had a VGA port.  Using a VGA to HDMI is possible but it has to be an active adapter, meaning it needs to be able to use power to make the conversion.  Also, since VGA does not have audio, that has to be added to the VGA signal before becoming HDMI.  Something on this order

https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Connecting-Laptop-Monitor-Display/dp/B07S1RKD4H

OR

https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Computer-Desktop-Monitor-Projector/dp/B07BKYBKGP

I have not used either of these, so cannot comment on how well they work.  The Plugable adapter I mentioned in my previous reply I know does work as you wish to show a separate signal to the second monitor.

Hello, me again! I purchased one of the adapters you suggested : https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Graphics-Multiple-2048x1152-1920x1080/dp/B00A2E1MQA. Received it today and connected it to my computer, so excited because I am now able to use both monitors as I intended. It took me a little while to find the right USB port to use, I was not getting any sound when I plugged the adapter into any of the USB ports on the back of the computer. I finally  tried one of the USB ports on "top" and got the sound back. Thank you so much for your help,   this just made my work from home easier!
